Inexpensive equal to high price tripods

This tripod is just as good as the high priced tripods out there.

Good tripod for the cost

Overall I am really impressed with the tripod! Very stable design and strong construction. I've used it several times for semi-long exposures and haven't had any trouble with movement of any kind in it. Only complaint: when it arrived, the middle angle adjustment stop for the legs would not hold. It would let the legs slip into the low-angle shooting position without even adding much weight on it. I contacted Adorama about this. They were very quick to send a replacement....with the exact same problem. They had even agreed to check the replacement before it was sent to see if it had the same problem (evidently it didn't happen). I am tempted to keep the tripod as I don't use that angle much and am tired of dealing with it, but as a warning to a prospective buyer, be forewarned that this model does have a flaw that way.

First class reasonable price

This tripod has all the features of a much more expensive one. I bought because I didn't know if I would use a tripod that much. But I hedged my bets and bought one with good features. It turns out I use this a lot and have carried on all day shots in big cities. Light and stable.

Handles the big stuff!

This tripod is used most of the time with a Nikon D300 a 500mm lens with gimbal mount and flash equipment. All in all a lot of heavy equipment that I am carrying much of the time from one vantage point to another for wildlife photos. Couldn't get along with out this very stable working platform. Easy set up and take down.

Very Light Weight

I just recieved this in the mail. It was just not what I was expecting. It is a very little tripod that is suppose to hold 24#'s. I have a manfrotto that is only rated at 16 #'s that is much more sturdy. I am boxing it up and sending it back. I am not even going to try it out. It is way to flimsy.

You Get What you Pay For

Every screw bolt or clamp does not stay clamped screwed or bolted. Basically each time it is used you need to tighten screw, bolts or clamps. I have two other tripods (more expensive carbon fiber). This tripod vibrates about twice as much as other tripods. I would not use it for more than a 100 mm lenses unless the vibration reduction is on.

Nice tripod, buy a bigger case

Use it on some hiking trails for landscapes and sometimes for portraits. Light and solid. I'm using it with a different brand ball head. The included case is too short to use with a head attached, pickup a longer one if you want a case.

Very Pleased

I was looking for something much lighter and which folded up smaller than my Gitzo G1410. However, I did not want to compromise on sturdiness. Well I finally took a shot on this tripod, and I couldn't be happier. I ordered it with the Flashpoint F-4 ballhead and both are great products. Very strong and light weight. Makes me want to shoot that much more. [...]

Great tripod...Great value

This is a lightweight rock solid tripod comparable to others costing much more. Easy to carry and use. If you are tired of bending over to use a cheap product you will love the height this one extends to.

Less than thrilled

Load capacity is far lower than advertised. Lowering step on center hub was sheared off with only 12 pounds of load. I'm going back to my trusted (heavy) Bogen 3051.

Great product

I could have gone with the 1228, but was concerned about the lighter tripods stability.

Good Value

Easy to use, sturdy and lightweight. I also have the 1138 which is great for travel but needed a heavier duty tripod for fireworks in a less than desirable steep location. The tripod performed perfectly considering the conditions. The only con is the bag is too small to comfortably hold even a small head. I will have to buy a different bag for this which is too bad. The 1st time I tried to close the bag the zipper went off track.

Great tripod!

You can't beet this tripod for the price. Go ahead and spend stupid amounts of money for the "high end" brand names but you'll have little or nothing to show for it. Trust me, buy it.

Best carbon value

I've shopped retail for a carbon tripod this size for over a year, and the $ price tags were a major put-off. I saw an Adorama ad for the Flashpoint carbon tripods and bought one a couple weeks ago. The 1228 is the best value tripod in its class that I could find anywhere. The construction seems top-notch. The carbon legs attach seamlessly into the collar mount hardware. The twist locks are precise and hold w/o over-tightening. The three-position leg spread is perfect for down-close macro or fully-extended upright. I like how the leg ends can adjust from metal spike points that grab on rocky or outdoor surfaces, to soft, sticky bumpers that stay put on slick surfaces or if you're shooting on a nice wood floor. I can't imagine needing anything more for this for travel photography and general purpose SLR work.

Great Tripod at a Great Price

Most of my photography is outdoor (scenic) and wildlife. it is great for this purpose and it is very easy to set up and use. The only shortcomming I have found is that the case that comes with the tripod is not long enough for tripod and ball head.

Great for what it is

This tripod has the look and feel of quality and would be great for wide angle or short (perhaps 200mm or less) telephoto work. A dream to carry. It's just too lightweight and the legs don't have enough spread (in normal position)for real stability. I set it up in my livingroom with my normal head and long telephoto and my wife gave it a little nudge and over it went into my arms. A nice little tripod, just don't expect too much of it as I did.

amazing tripod, just like my gitzo

This tripod is just like my gitzo that was stolen It is lightweight the large cushioned grips make extending a breeze. Can be adjusted so easily and the level guide is a plus to.

The very best tripod I have ever owned.

As a disabled photographer, carbon fiber is the only way to go, and this tripod does it all. When using long telephoto lenses, night shots, or macro work, this is the most perfect tripod for me.

great product for all

I have used this product for nature photography and portraits in low lighting situations. it worked great. this tripod was recommended to me by my photography professor because I couldn't afford a gitzo and I sure don't regret getting it.

Go For It!

If I were a professional photographer I'd probably spend the money and buy a Gitzo, but for my use the Flashpoint is a great less expensive alternative in a Carbon Fiber tripod. I'm well pleased with the way it works. It's light weight yet rugged and stable. It even works well with a gimbal type head such as the Wimberley. Unless you've got the money to burn on the name brand stuff, you'll be well pleased with the Flashpoint.

Good but not Great!

The tri-pod legs extend easily and lock easily. The ball head (Flashpoint F3)screws on to the tripod head, holding with just friction. This might be a problem with a heavy lens in the vertical position. The level on the tri-pod is a joke. It doesn't work. The carry bag that is included isn't long enough to allow the ball head inside the bag. It hangs out the end. Take it off after every use?

About Flashpoint CF1328 Carbon Fiber Tripod, Supports 24.2Lbs

• Adorama has studied for many years the needs and wants of the beginner, advanced and professional photographer. All the equipment that bears the Flashpoint name meets these essential qualifications, equipment that is dependable at a fair price. The Flashpoint Carbon Fiber Tripods are yet another fine example that follows in the Flashpoint tradition; high quality tripods that can go the distance. Made to Adorama's specifications, you'll feel the quality the first time you set it up. Leg locks that work! They open and close with ease. Pride of ownership is only a small reason to have one of these fine tripods in your equipment bag.
• Featuring classic European Styling, these Flashpoint tripods have all the features of other carbon fiber tripods, except the high price. Besides its legendary light weight, carbon fiber does not transfer heat like aluminum, but does absorb vibrations. This feature helps to insure sharper images.
• All Flashpoint tripod legs have rubber double-grip twist locks. The center column can be separated into a low column for ground level use. The supplied wrench can adjust the leg friction to match the photographers needs. Leg tips can be set with either a rubber pad or ground spike for rugged terrain.
