The Flashpoint Universal Swivel Holder seems to be very robust and well made. I have not used any other umbrella holder, so I have nothing to compare it to. That is why I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars.

This item absolutely does the job at a great price point. However, it is almost all plastic so you do have to go easier on it than the heavy-duty all-metal grip gear. I'm using it for one-man-band commercial shoots to hold battery powered LED panels and it's perfect.

At first I was concerned because there appeared to be a little wobble when my speedlight was mounted on this. And, since this was the first time I had used one of these I was a little concerned at first. However, after having used several times over a few months I would cautiously recommend it. If you don't feel that you could live with the speedlight mounted in a holder with a little wobble then this is not the holder for you.

Was putting together a lightweight take along setup of stands and umbrellas to use with some older but highly functional strobes, and one of my old holders was really beat. This device is simple, well made and inexpensive - perfect for my needs

Very sturdy construction, heavy weight. The only downside is the screws which hold the flash to the holder strip very easily. But you can use the flash turn knob to secure the flash to the holder.

I had an old studio strobe unit that had an odd fitting and would not fit a standard stand. The Flashpoint Swivel worked perfectly. I can see this holder could be used in many ways. It is also well made.

I purchased this because I'm on a tight budget. I recently purchased a cheaper bracket which was all plastic which began stripping from all the knobs within days. This little beauty is quite the opposite. It is amazing! All the parts are made of one solid metal or another, nothing flimsy about it. I actually feel comfortable putting my speedlight on there. The fittings to connect to the light stand are brass, which doesn't show any wear. I would recommend to anyone, works great!

Okay, first off let me say it's not bad for the price. I suggest paying more for true versatility. It is made from cast metal and seems decent enough. The swivel has teeth so your stuck with where it seats. The term 'universal' should be removed from the description - here's why: While the adapter itself may be mostly universal, the two brass studs that come with it are not. The female stud works only in the end where you would mount it to the stand - It will go in a little more than 1/2 way. The male stud won't even go in that part of the unit, but fits fine in the other end (the part with the umbrella hole). So, not very universal. The shoe holding thumb screw striped upon first use.It seems that the screw is not quite the perfect fit, but something just to make it look complete. Lastly, the bolt used to tighten the swivel it a bit too long despite the added washer it uses. This allows slack and removes a tight lock - which is what you want - not for the thing to suddenly change position and send your gear for a landing on your clients head. Adding a second washer would most likely fix the issue. Overall it's ok. Keep the assigned studs in their place and add the second washer and you'll be fine. Oh, and on a trivial note, the 1/4" female was not centered in the stud.

Was skeptical about this at the price, but it's proved itself. It's more compact than the Adorama branded version. Solid design with minimal plastic. I've picked up several more since my first purchase. Do note, the umbrella mount is not angled.
