In general, it's a nice product, which can be expected to last longer if well-maintained. However, the metallic switch which slides back & forth -- for forward, stop, reverse -- is an issue. The switch should be replaced with a better option and there are many such options -- it only requires tech support's attention. Thanks

Worst shredder I have ever owned and will never buy another one. Since the first day I bought it it would keep running or not work at all. Piece of garbage with crap service from the place I bought it,NEVER AGAIN.

Didnt last very long at all and saw limited use in a home environment. When I contacted Fellowes they were of little help. Parts arent available and so on. Offered me a small discount “coupon code” on a new shredder. Why would I want another when it’s obvious Fellowes doesn’t stand behind their products? Disappointed to say the least.

The shredder is a tad bit loud for our small office. But compared to our last shredder, this one is much MUCH faster. (shreds up to 12 documents at a time) It is small enough to keep under a desk which is great!

I purchased this shredder in 2014. I do my shredding in bulk. This shredder did great. I packaged it back up after using and stored away in the original box. About halfway through shredding a bag (brown shopping paper bag) this time, the shredder began making a loud popping noise then completely stopped shredding. Keep in mind, this was the 2nd time I ever used this shredder. I called Fellowes and was told it was part of the plate that turns the blades and wasn't part of the 5 year warranty. Next shredder will not be from this company.

I repurchased this model because my old one stopped working. After years of use with no problems, we relocated 750 mile. After we got to our new location the shredder wouldn't worked. I believe it was damaged in the move.

Researched several brands prior to purchasing a Fellowes. Previously accustomed to using a high capacity office machine and found this model adequate for light home use. The shred bin fills fast and paper remains in the blades requiring removing the pieces by hand. The pull out bin doesn't glide in or out smoothly and it's a bit messy. Depending on paper thickness, there will be a drag in performance, less is always best.

This is the worst shredder I have ever used. The shredded paper does not all drop into the bin, and therefore when you withdraw the bin to empty it, there is still a significant amount of paper hanging from the cutters. The only way to remove it is by hand and causes one to have to vacuum the area after each emptying of the shredder bin. A poorly designed product!

Had the same model previously. It worked fine for a year then got stuck in dead slow. I expect the same from the new one, but perhaps longer life with very careful use and keeping number of sheets shredded to about half of nominal maximum. Also, always need to vacuum some shreds after emptying.

I just purchased this Fellowes Powershred P-12C Heavy Use. I took it out of the box, plugged it in, turn the on button and nothing, I looked at this thing over and over, I found the pull out tray to have the missing tab that pushes the switch in to activated. A Complete Disappointment, and Didn't even get to shred 1 piece of paper. After reading these reviews, I am definitely bringing it back. And getting my money back.

It is easy to move from one spot to another. It is easy to follow the instruction manual and has many safety features to prevent injury. I like that it will shred credit cards and thick items that prior models would not have taken.

It is a great shredder but if you have any warranty issues good luck might as well buy another one. Purchased one online they would not honor there warranty it had a cracked sight window . They origanily wanted to replace unit when it only needed a lens. They do not make all ther parts they told me so it is made all over the world.

Nonstop running makes this shredder very dangerous. I returned to a burning smell and found it running on its own. Despite several attempts to clean the sensor area, the problem persists. Do NOT leave this shredder plugged in or in standby.

This is the best shredder that I have used to-date. Although I am not a heavy user, it works perfectly for me. It shreds quickly and easily. Staples in your paper creates no problems. It also shreds your old credit cards perfectly. It looks very stylish. And I love the safety feature so I won't have to worry about a childs fingers getting into the teeth of the shredder - and it does work! The only one issue that I have with this shredder is if you have a lot of shredding to do in one go, it does get messy. Because the last bunch of papers shredded stay in the mechanism until the next bunch pushes it into the bin, the shredding's protrude from the underside of the shredding unit.Therefore as you are doing a lot of shredding the bin fills up quickly. When you pull the bin out to empty, the protruding shreddings scrape off the top layer of shredded paper, and this will land inside the compartment where your bin would fit; and also on the floor as you pull the bin out. Of course the key is to empty the bin regularly. Easier said than done when you are trying to get as much done in as little time possible. That said, I would still recommend this shredder.

I have been using this shredder for several weeks and it has proved to be very reliable, easy to use and appears to be a well engineered product. It has performed as advertised and so far, I am very pleased with my purchase. The waste container is large in capacity and easy to empty. Before purchasing, I did some on line research concerning shredders and found good reviews for the Fellowes brand. This was my reason for choosing a Fellowes product.

It worked well when it worked. It died just after 1 year and it was used very lightly, a few pages each month at most. Too expensive for it to die in such a short time under very minimal stress.

While you pay a reasonably high price for this cross cut shredder, with normal household use you are lucky if it last longer than one year. It is cheaper to use a shredding service than to buy a Fellows Shredder. We are very disappointed with the effectiveness of this product.

Very impressive and durable product. Handles 12 sheets maximum but pushing any device to its limits invites problems of course. It shreds 12 pages with ease but runs slower if you do this on a regular basis. The motor is powerful and grabs documents into the shredder with force. Safe operation is instantaneous when you contact the feed tray. I have had zero jams and shredded a 25 gallon trash bag of documents with no heat problems or jams whatsoever. Very impressed with the quality and durability. This will be my home security shredder and minor business use when needed. Worth the reputation, money and investment for any heavy home/business user. Great warranty and reputation with this brand. I have always trusted them over the years.
