About Glyph Technologies

The Glyph Technologies 1TB Desktop Hard Drive features next-generation Oxford bridging technology. The GTP50 uses a temperature-controlled fan making it overall quieter than the previous designs while still offering proper cooling. The case is designed with front-panel ventilation holes to draw cool air in, while exhausting warm air out the back - critical to the performance and reliability of the components.

Glyph Technologies Features

  • Nobody likes wall-warts: They are easily misplaced, or accidentally unplugged from the drive and take up valuable outlet space. The GPT50 uses an industry-standard power cord and pro-quality internal power supply for the most efficient and reliable power source possible
  • Optional rack-mount kits: Transform your GPT50 into a 1U rack-mount hard drive with the optional GPT Rack Kit. The rack kit holds one or two drives in a 1U rack space
  • Keeping your data safe: The GPT50 boasts new features designed to keep your data safe. The intelligent power switch must be held for 3 seconds to power off the drive, guarding against unintended power-off. The multifunction LED shows drive power, activity and also warns of a failing hard drive
  • Triple Interface: The GPT50 provides all the ports you'd possibly need. With FireWire 800, USB 2.0 and eSATA options, you can connect the GPT50 to your external interface of choice

Questions about this item:

Shopper  I would be using this to back up files in my recording studio im running protools with LOTS AND LOTS of plug ins from other software downloads native instruments just all kinds of stuff avid protools recomends atleast 7200 rpm and 500GB i dont see the spec for the RPM on this model.any info would be helpful thanks????
WILLIAM G  The Glyph is the best external hard drive I've ever had; it's built like a tank. The one your looking at should work fine for your needs. Even though I use mine to back up my photographic library, glyph was originally marketed to the audio/video market and is without question the industry standard. I connect mine with eSATA and It runs as fast as my C drive. Both USB and FireWire work just as well but have a bit slower transfer rates. I think you'll be quite happy if you decide to buy one.
