The Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus accommodates 4 AA or AAA NiMH batteries, which it can charge using its solar input or USB mini input. A USB 2.0 to mini USB cable is included. To use the sun's rays for power, you simply connect the Guide 10 Plus to the high-efficiency mono crystalline Nomad 7 Solar Panel. Just plug the supplied cord into the Nomad 7's solar output and the Guide 10's solar input. Charging takes about 3-6 hr this way and about 6-10 hr using a USB power source. You can charge your smartphone or other USB-powered device by connecting it to the USB output on the Guide 10 Plus. This unit can also be used as a battery pack for powering the built-in LED flashlight, which is capable of running for over 100 hr per charge using AAs. There is an on/off switch on the Guide 10 for the USB output and LED flashlight and a charge indicator light is also present.
In addition to its solar output, the Nomad 7 Solar Panel also features a USB output for directly charging devices. It's configured with a 12VDC output for charging other devices, too. The USB and 12V ports can even be used to charge 2 different electronics simultaneously, splitting the incoming solar power between the two.
