Goal Zero Lighthouse USB Lantern

I just purchased a refurbished Lighthouse Lantern. The rows of LEDs are veryt bright. The Lighthouse Lantern comes with a secondary emergency red light that circles the rim. It is light weight yet sturdy and rugged. It has a handy hook on the top and a crank for instant charging. It comes with a UBB port for charging other items and can be easily charged with a Nomad 7 or 10 with a trickle charger.

I'm typically very happy with anything that I buy a goal Zero and this Is true for this lantern with one minor exception . . . I purchased this as a reconditioned lantern and the one that I received was disgustingly filthy. This lantern literally look like it when on a 3 month expedition into the swamps as it had mud and dirt on the handle, the base and the globe. I was very disappointed that Goal Zero did not take just a few minutes to wipe down the lantern. Other than that the lantern works exactly as described, the slide switch is a little loose and I'm sure it's going to pop off one day, but for now I'm overall satisfied.

My wife and I bought this product 2 years ago and have barely used it. Before we knew it the handle broke on one side because of the plastic bolts holding it to the lantern. We still liked the hand crank feature because if you are out for an extended period you can still use the lantern without external power to charge it. A few days ago the shaft from the crank to the gears in the charging mechanism broke because of the poor construction and plastic materials of the device. We spent over fifty dollars on this lantern and only used it a few times for short periods.

Just got one of these, within hours of use the crank broke! Apparently it is connected to the charger by a small piece of plastic.

Bought the Lighthouse for use during Power Outages, this being a real "Old Fashioned" winter but so far the power has stayed on. I did try it out and am very pleased with the amount of light it puts out and the USB charging port.

I like that there are several ways to charge this light, however it does not have a built in solar panel like the flashlights. Once it's charged, I put it back on the shelf to wait for when I need it. So far have not had to use it, but once or twice in the winter our power goes out and it's nice to have the security that we will have the bright light of this little lantern to show us the way!

So I bought this lantern to turn into my own power pack. I immediately removed the single 18650 lithium cell they had and placed a 6 pack that gives me 15,600mah of power. the light stayed on for 36 hours at which time I turned it off because it was starting to dim. I like the USB outlet on it which is why I bought it. The rubber outer coating is nice for grip.

This product works well, but it contains only one 18650 lithium battery in it's base even though there is enough free space inside to house up to 7 batteries. I purchased 4 additional rechargable 18650 batteries and soldered all the wires togther in parallel so that the voltage remained the same. Before my modification, the lantern lasted about 4 hours on a single charge, but with the 4 extra batteries it now runs over 20 hours on a single charge. It also supplies plenty on power now to fully charge up my smart phone using the USB port. My only two real dissappointment with this latern is that one, the rotating charging handel on the top of the latern does a terrible job of recharging the batteries. And two, the red warning LED's around the top are not very bright, making the latern a poor warning light if you had to use it to warn other drivers of an upcoming hazard.

These have been great. We recently purchased them for my kids elementary school so that they would have lights in the times that they needed it.

The lights in my garage went out at the same time that my car was needing a jump start. I also needed light to jump start the car in a parking lot. In both cases it was more than bright enough for my needs.

Overall this is a nice unit. I wish it had better battery life (i.e. Larger battery). I have not used it much yet but I imagine if you use it ti charge things, there might not be enought juice left for the light. I wish it had a high/low switch for the light.

I got 2 of these lights. They put out a good amount of light and the hand crack is a nice option as well. They are very light however bulky. The USB ports do not work well. One does not work at all, the other only charges my Guide 10, but not any of my phones, or any other USB items I have. The base is pretty empty and it would be nice to be able to use the space for something. I'm afraid to use this area for storage since all the electronics are exposed and appears easily broken. An optional add on battery pack would be great for this space as well.

I have two Light A Life lanterns, a replacement bulb and Rock Out speakers. The speakers are a good value, nice design, last a long time, sound good and I would like to see a larger version (not just daisy chained) for base camps and canoe camps - plenty of space to carry a larger, more powerful unit along. The lights are just great, though I think the 40W rating equivalent is pretty optimistic. The design and manufacture of the units is nicely done and clever, very, very useful in camp. Decent output, long lasting, no heat, durable and so low a draw on a battery pack. I made my spare bulb into a directional lamp for the camp with a clamp-on-light fixture from the hardware store - just excellent and its a wonderful compliment to the other two that I have. No mantles, gas, etc. Just push a button, instant light!. I have nearly two full weeks base camp use on them in the dark NE woods this fall. Nothing but praise for the product. (marketing dept should contact me as I have some thoughts on where you could potentially sells a whole bunch of these...)
