Questions about this item:

Shopper  Would this work for a Vivitar 285 and a light stand?
STEVEN P  I am not familiar with the 285, however, it should work with the flash stand so long as you have a standard flash hotshoe mount on the flash and the flash mounts to your camera. As for the light stand, it should work there as well, provided you have a standard threaded style of head on light stand that is similar to a tripod head configuration. This stand has a rather large platform that can be used on top of a standard threaded tripod, desktop, floor, etc.
Shopper  Will this stand work with a Metz 48 af-1 flash?
STEVEN P  Yes, I am sure it would work with the Metz 48 or 58 flash. The base of those flash units is plastic material and screws onto the Graslon base, so be sure to tighten with caution. The base is only .50" tall but has a very large footprint vs. most standard base plates, but done so in order to accomodate the weight of the flash and diffusers in the Graslon series. I have three of these that I use with the Canon 580 EXII flash very well.
