About Graslon

The Graslon Spark is a new flash diffuser that helps make pictures taken with the built-in pop-up flash more pleasing. By creating a larger light source with a series of internal mirrors, the Spark reduces overblown highlights and softens shadows enabling users to take further advantage of the built in pop-up flash.

The Spark pop-up flash diffuser will work with most DSLR cameras, simply slide it into the hot shoe mount and take pictures as normal. The Spark will not inhibit the normal triggering of the flash and does not require that you change any settings. It's a great option when your in a hurry and also makes an excellent backup if you lose your external flash.

Doesn't work with Sony DSLR cameras

from South Carolina  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I purchased this unit, as there was no indication that it did not accommodate the Sony A77, but upon receipt, I found the box stated it would not fit any Sony camera. I sold the unit to a friend who shoots Nikon. The listing for this product states, "The Spark pop-up flash diffuser will work with most DSLR cameras...". Rest assured that it will NOT work with any Sony or Minolta product. Too bad, I think I would have liked it a lot. I'm sorry about the one star rating, but this website requires that I rate it and since it didn't fit my camera and the listing wasn't clear, I can't give it a high rating.

Diffusion but with light loss in corners

The Spark is easy to install and does diffuse light fairly well, but there is a significant fall-off in the corners. Used along with other light sources (natural or artificial), it does help reduce glare and dark shadows.

Really softens the flash. One thing that I personally had a hard time with was getting the diffuser to slide into the hot shoe the first time. I was concerned that I would break the tab on the diffuser.

Questions about this item:

David R  will it fit the canon xsi flash ?
WILLIAM S  Unfortunately, I do not own a Canon Xsi flash so I am unable to give you a what I feel would be a reliable answer to your question. I think your best bet would be to try an online search for Graslon and then contact the company directly to check on compatibility. p  I have seen two types of diffusers for the pop up flash units. I have a Canon sx40hs and Nikon D70s cameras. Will these fit both or do I need two. Which unit is better?
RONALD T  I use this diffuser on a Pentax K-5II so I cannot answer you question. What I can tell you is; the unit is designed to fit in the hot shoe of the camera. The critical area is the size of your pop-up flash and the clearance front to back when it pops up in the diffuser.
Shopper  Will this work with a NIkon P510?
JAMES B  You have to check the manufacturer's site for sure. I bought one and it worked fine on a Pentax body. The unit basically slides into the hot shoe. It has a hole that allows the on camera flash to pop up inside the unit. Generally, the unit worked fine and did what it was supposed to do.
