A great sturdy tripod for long lens

I just bought a 300mm f2.8 tele, so I have to get a sturdy tripod to match. The Gitzo is great for that purpose. I've been getting by using a Bogen 3021, but the G1325 is definitely sturdier and lighter.

About Gitzo MK2 Mountaineer Inter Pro Studex Performance Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs w/Flat Plate (Height 6.1-58.7", Maximum Load 26.5 lbs)

4 models offer maximum flexibility for use with heavy 35mm and medium format cameras.

The G1349 Mountaineer has 4 leg sections and the G1329 has 3 leg sections. Both feature grooved Rapid center columns. The center column can be replaced with the optional extra, aluminum Geared column (G336). They are performance models, which enable the legs to be set individually at 24°, 55° or 80° for low angle shots.

The G1325 (3 section legs) and G1348 (4 section legs) have no center column so you can choose to purchase separately, either the carbon Rapid (G1318) or aluminum Geared (G338) columns or video adapters (G1422 = 75mm or G1424 = 100mm).
