Great travel tripod, but it's expensive

Easy to carry. Stable enough even when using Nikon D700 with External Battery Pack, and 70-200 lens with 1.7x converter. Probably not heavy duty enough for serious video.

Great lightweight travel tripod

I bought this tripod because I wanted a sturdy, lightweight tripod to carry with me on a 2-week trip to Europe. It exceeded my expectations. Very stable, very compact, and most of all, very light.

For anyone needing a lightweight, stable tripod which will fit as a carry-on. You'll never need to trade up!!

Excellent lightweight tripod legs

My main concern in buying these legs was the carbon fiber -- my concerns were alleviated though when I received it. The carbon fiber feels extremely durable and the leg locks at set angles are very nice. The legs came a bit tight out of the box, but there's an Allen wrench included so you can adjust the tension to your heart's content. My primary reason for buying it was so it would be able to fit in a standard 24" carry-on piece of luggage on airplanes. The traveler series is well worth it for stability and compactness.

Sometimes, you get what you pay for

This is so light and compact, I throw it on a tripod holster and take it everywhere. I can put my D3 on it with a f/2.8 70-200mm lens and have all the stability you could hope for. Well worth the cost.

Easy to carry and use, sturdy.

I searched for days and days to find a tripod. My requirements: 1) Small enough to fit in carryon baggage (16"), 2) Light, 3) Strong enough to hold a dSLR w/ 500mm lens, and 4) Tall enough so I wouldn't have to stoop over all day (I'm 6'1".) This was a new model when I bought it, and the best candidate for the job. The only thing I choked on is the price, never before paying more than [$] for a tripod, even for a heavy view camera. Mated with a Manfrotto hydrostatic ball head (looks funny) it handles all my needs. I actually use it all the time as it's easy to carry in a camera bag or backpack and light (about 5lbs with head) After 7 days in Yellowstone and 10 days in Yosemite, as well as around town, it's gotten quite a workout and looks like new. I'm very happy with it.

I enjoy working with different equipment to get ‘close’ to subjects with a camera, but I especially like adding thin extension tubes to shorter focal length lenses to create wide angle close-ups.
