The Gitzo GT3541L 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs is a full eye-level height tripod that uses advanced "Carbon 6X" carbon fiber material for its leg construction. This improved tubing is stronger than its 12 layer predecessor. Although the tubing is lighter, it still offers the same resistance to vibration.
Carbon "6X" is manufactured using a complex, 3-D process weaving 6 layers of carbon fiber into smooth, solidly constructed tubes. The GT3541L is ideal for use with professional equipment, medium format cameras and SLRs with a 300mm lens up to 400mm maximum. It offers an excellent load capacity rating of 39.6 lbs (18kg) and good torsional rigidity.
This was a little pricey for my first true tripod, but I'm of the opinion that you should buy quality products that last. I've only had it about two weeks, but my first impressions are that it is well built, light and stable. I put a Markins Q10 ballhead on it and am pretty impressed. Only reservation I have so far is that I am 6'0" tall and the shorter version was too short, but this one seems to be just about 2-3 inches too tall with the legs fully extended and the center column all the way down. I think I'll be pretty happy with it though.
Great tripod excellent build quality. I am 6 ft so I wanted the taller "L" model. Very happy with my purchase
This is a great Tripod I upgraded from a lighter weight and very happy that i did
One of the best tripods on the market. Rock solid. That's all you need to know. It's definitely worth the money.
Poor instruction book, could not remove center pole.
Very poor instructions could not remove the rapid column, can not fig what the allen keys are for.
I wanted rock solid suppoort and I got it. This tripod does it's job very well. The only reason I did'nt give it 5 stars is because of it's need to be dissasmbled and cleaned after beach use. Not difficult but a minor nuiscance.
After going through many bad experiences with wimpy tripods, I was lead to this one via an article on tripods. I bought it immediatly and never looked back. You buy a tripod to hold your camera STILL. This does just that. End of story.
After trying all the inexpensive light weight tripods every one thought I should have. I finally decided the heck with it and decided to end it foreevr. Now I will never have to buy another tripod. YEA!!!
Hey, its a Gitzo & it costs a bunch, you expect it to be the best. And it lives up to its reputation. Very light weight & sturdy. But the best thing about it is the ease of set up & the minimum effort that the leg locks take to looseN & tighten. I use it with a D300 w/ grip & 400mm f2.8 lens. No problem at all.
