About Hakuba VERISPOD I

The Hakuba Verispod II is a unique combination of a lightweight, height-adjustable monopod with a fully integrated tripod for cameras, optical devices and almost any other tripod mountable device such as photo lights, microphones, etc. Simply unfasten the hook-and-loop strap at the bottom of the Verispod to extend the three short legs for the tripod mode up to a height of 58.7". With the legs extended, the Verispod II is now a stable but lightweight tripod. In addition, the Verispod II is a height-adjustable (up to 62.5"), fully functional monopod, which will support up to 9 pounds.

The product incorporates an innovative, quick-release, mount-demount system called MagMount. The MagMount is an industry-first magnetic quick-release camera and optical device ball head. It provides for the instant attachment of almost any camera, spotting scope or other device that is mounted via industry standard 1/4"-20 threaded mounting systems.

The Hakuba VERISPOD I is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Photo enthusiast among others.

Fabulous quality and design.

Solid finish. the ball head is unique. Beats shocks off the expensive monopods. More importantly this had spreadable triangle legs that serves as tripod - will be useful for long shots with wired remote. I would buy this brand any day. I am going to look at this company what else they make.

DON'T buy Hakuba Versipod II Monopod.

Manufacturer defect Monopod head mount caused my camera to fall off and cracked my brand new camera and len. The Monopod was unstable and the magmount head was so weak that your camera can fall off any time. I hate this Monopod since it damages my brand new Canon t4i Camera and brand new Fisheye len.

I'm glad I got this before it was discon

I'm glad I got this before it was discontinued. Yes, it is a little flimsy, yes it doesn't collapse very short. And if you don't use the attached clamp, the mag-head could potentially let your camera fall off. But the clip does the trick. If you camera fell off, it was because you didn't use the clip. So for my purposes -- having something I can hike with easily, the extra support of a walking stick, the quick and easy attach/removal of the camera -- it's absolutely great!

Great Quality and Price

By

from Peoria, AZ  -  Photo Enthusiast

Other Monopod Tripods cost $100 or more. This one is well built and inexpensive. Compared to a regular tripod, it has a small footprint. A 20" by 17.5" flat area is all that is required for the Versipod II. The legs are non adjustable, so a reasonably flat surface is necessary, although the ball head will give you adjustments for slightly non flat surfaces. What you see in the pictures on one leg is a quality Velcro strap for holding the legs together when carried or walking, although the legs stay together well when not using the strap. Because of the tripod design the monpod does not collapse smaller than 47". Two super powerful magnet adapters are supplied. They are so strong I could not remove them with my hand, I had to screw on a camera with a metal base to leverage them off. These are used for quick attachment of a camera, but with the safety clip attached it acts is like a permanent head. I use it around the house and recently took it to a grade school auditorium and videoed a band concert. It would be great for school graduations too. I would not use it unattended with heavy cameras.

Superb Product!

By

We do a lot of travelling now that we are retired from the photography business and the VersiPod takes the place of a monopod and tripod. Works wonderfully! The strength of the magnet adapters is just unreal. And the tripod legs are very stable. Plus it attracts a lot of attention when you use it.

Walking stick

By

from New York  -  Photo Enthusiast

This was a very inexpensive monopod. It does not collapse fully so think of this as a walking stick first. The magnetic connector works but it allows for motion so it feels in insecure. The ball head is fine. If you don't mind have a walking stick and a little exercise it is fine.

Do not use the MagMount

By

from Alabama  -  Photo Enthusiast

When you get the product take the magball head and put it someplace where you will never find it again. It is dangerous to use. Buy a small ball head with a removeable mount or a monopod head with a removeable mount. My wife and I are in our 70's. The product is a good walking stick. It is a good monopod. It is a fair tripod which works well with a DSLR Nikon and a small lens. Do not use with a heavy lens such as the 50-500mm Sigma. I attached a line to the top of the product and use my foot to help stablize the tripod.

Questions about this item:

jag m  i have a sony nex 5 camera, will this tripod work with it? Do i need to purchase a magnet adapter or anything else when purchasing this stand or is it ready to use with my camera as soon as i receive it?
LAWRENCE H  The included magnetic mounts screw into the standard tripod mounting point in your camera. It is ready to use out of the box.
Shopper  Will this work fir a nikon camera?
WAYNE B  No, The tripod is a little flimsy and should only be used for smaller lighter cameras. I would not recommend using on anything over a couple of pounds.
Shopper  Does anyone know where you can get the magnetic "plate" to mount to a camera for this unit? I just added a GoPro and this tripod works great with that but I'd like to find another magnet so I'm not always moving it from one small camera to the other to use this unit.
Kevin K  This company is actually a version of the original creator, Trek Tech.
