The Hamilton Buhl HD Digital Camcorder Explorer Kit comes with four HDV5200 Cameras, a nylon carry case for all four camcorders and software to use the cameras with your computer. Each HDV5200 features a five-megapixel image sensor capable of recording 1280 x 720p HD video, as well as capturing interpolated eleven-megapixel digital stills. The sensors have a native 2592 x 1944 resolution as well. Since they use AVI (H.264) format for recording, the cameras are able to shoot more with less memory. The HDV5200 is equipped with 64 MB internal Flash memory, but it also has an SD/SDHC card slot capable of handling up to 16 GB SD/SDHC cards (sold separately).
The HDV5200 is equipped with 2.5" LCD display panel as well. This display can be used as your recording viewfinder or as a display for instant playback as soon as a video is shot or a picture is captured. After you return home, you can either upload your footage onto YouTube and Facebook using the camera's mini-USB 2.0 port and the included USB cable. If you want to share your footage and stills with friends and family, you can use the camcorder's HDMI output and the included HDMI output to connect the HDV5200 to your HDTV. This way you can view your footage in up to 720p HD and enjoy crystal clear audio.
Besides just capturing video and stills, the camera can actually load and store MP3 files so you can use it like an MP3 player and enjoy your favorite songs. Plus, the device is designed for students, so it's built to last with a rugged construction. For helping you get the most out of the camcorder, Hamilton equipped the camera with white balance auto/manual exposure settings, a light for shooting in low light and a self-timer with a ten-second delay. If that's not enough, you can also use the HDV5200 as PC Web Cam or a USB mass storage disk. Plus, it has a built-in speaker and microphone for video-chatting online with friends and family thanks to the integrated mini-USB port.
