2X graduated neutral density filter reduces the light 1 stop
The contrast in ground/sky is always a problem for me.....especially when a big sky is desired....this took care of selected situations and I love it...
I bought this to use on a Nikkor 16-35 f/4 zoom. It's pretty much useless. The zoom has a filter diameter of 77mm, but the actual optical diameter of the front element is significantly smaller. As a result, very little of the darkest gray part of the filter actually covers the lens element, so the effect is negligible. For this lens, at least, a rectangular resin filter is a better option.
I am new to ND filters, so that may explain a lot. Too much money for very little effect. I ended up buying the 10 stop and returning this one. Here is bright Miami it wasn't working for me.
This filter delivers all that one would hope for. It fits perfectly, is of top quality strength and construction and rotates with a firm ease. It's a beautiful solution to counter "blown out" skies for when landscape shadow details make the money shot! It's versatility makes it a boon for adding interest in unexpected ways while one is composing an image...suppressing unwanted highlights or enriching depth and color in areas other than above the horizon. Don't hesitate in investing in this superb glass!
Great product with superior optics. The mount is great and it spins very well.
