Review Summary

I have an almost identical system, except that my H2 is an H2F, which is an upgrade of the H2D. I give this camera the highest possible recommendation without reservation: it is incomparable. As of 2011, there is no 35mm digital system that produces images that can rival the quality of what this will produce, and that includes the DSLR's with 21-25 MP. The best DSLR's are great tools and give great images, but when you shoot them side by side with this, you GET why people will pay these prices---the images from my 22MP Hasselblad are clearly and consistently superior to any DSLR. While nearly 30K dollars is a lot of money for a camera---and an older one at that---if you need to produce only the very best images, you don't really have a choice of brand, just a choice of how many pixels. While newer Hasselblads now have way more pixels, a photo from a new one, as awesome at it is, is not a bit better than a photo from my H2F-22. Given the choice---and I HAVE the choice---between this 22MP Hasselblad and a 50MP or 60MP one, I prefer the 22MP because it gives me the same incomparable results, with a much smaller file size, which means faster workflow. While the H3 and H4's are slightly fancier cameras, the only ones that can produce better images than this are the two multi-shot cameras, which are only useful for still-life product shooting in the studio.

The 22 mega pixel Hasselblad Ixpress CFH digital back has been custom built to fit the design and functionality of the Hasselblad H2 camera with its range of high performance, leaf shutter lenses. The Ixpress CFH brings an unprecedented level of integration and flexibility to serious digital photography.
The Ixpress CFH provides digital capture using sensors more than twice the physical size of today's 35mm sensors. These larger sensors hold more and larger pixels, which ensures the highest possible image quality and moire free color rendering without gradation break-ups - in even the most subtly lit surfaces.
The Ixpress CFH is also the first digital back be completely integrated with the new Hasselblad H2 camera's power system. This means that both camera and digital back are run using the single LI-Ion battery of the H2 camera.
The Ixpress CFH is operated with an easy-to-use and intuitive user interface, using a series of instant one-button-click operations including instant capture, instant browse, instant approval, instant zoom, and instant image info. The Ixpress CFH also fits view cameras using the H-system interface plate for mechanical attachment and flash sync connection to trigger digital capture.
The H2/CFH combination also provides you with Hasselblad's new Instant Approval Architecture, bringing automated image classification into your digital workflow from the split second of capture.
Limitless digital image capture loses some of its potential if you can't quickly review and select the best images from your shoot. Building on the success of its Audio Exposure Feedback technology, Hasselblad is proud to introduce Instant Approval Architecture (IAA), an enhanced set of feedback tools, designed to allow you to focus on your shooting rather than the selection process. IAA triggers audible and visible signals for each image captured, immediately telling you whether the image has an approved, rejected, or borderline status.
Optimum portability and image storage are critical for the professional photographer and the Ixpress CFH lets you be as flexible as you need to be, enabling you to choose freely between portable CF card storage, flexible Firewire drives, or tethered operation with extended, special capture controls.
With these three options, you can choose an operating and storage mode to suit the nature of the work at hand, whether in the studio or on location.
Hasselblad has worked closely with Adobe to make its new products fully compatible with Adobe's raw image format, DNG, bringing this new technology standard to professional photographers for the first time. The DNG file format enables raw, compressed image files to be opened directly in Adobe PhotoShop, allowing you to operate quickly and efficiently, reducing the downtime usually taken to process image data, and enabling final images to reach customers more quickly.
