Buy the best; and cry once.

I bought two of these to use on two valuable Nikon lenses; but I already had three of the 77mm size on other lenses. They are known for their high strength glass; but that is NOT why I buy and use them. They have the absolute lowest reflectance of any filter I have tried. It's easy to test; simply use the filter to reflect the sun onto a wall in the shade. The dimmer spot is from the lower reflectance. I'm not after better transmission; the reflected light gets in your lens and lowers the image contrast. That's why I use only Hoya HD2 filters on my good lenses. I would like another 1.5 mm of male threads; they do not need to be this short, but I can live with that for the best filter for protection and contrast.
