I use the Hoya 77mm DMC PRO1 ND8X (0.9) Filter for photographing in bright sunlight. It reduces the amount of light entering the lense but does not affect color. This allows me to open the apperture on my lens wide open or close to it,and gives the bokeh I want in bright sunlight. I offset the filter light reduction with on and off-camera flash. This really sets my subject out from the background and the background is not totally blown-out, as with wide open apertures and fast shutters, just blurred. If often use it for sunsets as it allows me to get the sun and my sujects in some amazing poses.

Great product for the money. Doesn't affect glass from what I can see. Works great to help keep your shutter speed low while shooting outdoors with flash. Highly recommended.

the product is effective for the purpose for which it was intended. You may need to buy the same filter in other grades for more efficiency in any type of lighting environment. But the product is very good.

I am not a professional, but the filter served very well for my purposes. It produces beautiful scenery.
