The filter is excellent, and does its job without degrading the image in my opinion. I use it to protect my new Nikon 10-24mm and did not want anything to hurt the image of that lens.

Full protection for your lens. I recently dropped my zoom lens. The old filter cracked, yet it saved the very expensive lens.

When you have invested in a high end lens, buy a Trusted brand filter. Does not make sense to degrade wonderful optics with a cheap UV or Pol filter. Not a place to save a few dollars..

I use this as a lens protector. As such, I expect it not have any noticeable effect on the image. First, this filter is very difficult to clean. I suspect it's something to do with the coating. You absolutely cannot clean it with lens paper; you must use a good microfiber cloth--even the one Adorama includes in their cleaning kit has some trouble. If you do a poor job cleaning this filter, streak marks cling to it and kill your contrast. It is thus paramount that you keep it clear and when you do have to clean it, take time. Absolutely do not wipe it with your shirt. You'll make a mess of it and ruin your photos if you don't clean it up. As such, I recommend this only if you plan to keep it on and not switch to other filters. I've been using it on a 300mm and never switch it out. I only use that lens when I know I'll take a lot of photos with it (e.g., at a zoo) and keep it attached to a monopod. The lens also has a long hood that makes the lens cap unnecessary when it's in use. As a result, I can keep this filter fingerprint free and not have to worry about cleaning it. I think I would rate this filter lower if I had to deal with cleaning it regularly. Another weak point is that it is not terribly well constructed. This is not an expensive filter, but it's not a cheap one either, so I'm not sure where I place my expectations. When I squeeze along the rim, I can hear glass move a bit. The glass doesn't rotate or anything so bad, but it seems the rim is not 100% secure. It does screw onto the lens easily and securely, however. My lens cap attachs over it just fine as well.

Excellent quality and very solid; not as slim as I might wish, but does not seem to create a vignette at 11 mm with the wide-angle lens for which I bought it.

Nothing to say about the filter, except good value. Well made, and optically clear.

Absorbs the ultraviolet rays which often makes outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct. A muliti-purpose fine-weather filter for color as well as black and white films. Also serves as a permanent lens protector.
HMC (Hoya Multi-Coating)
These popular filters are renowned for their ability to minimise reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting. The result is an average light transmission of over 97%, giving sharp contrast and well balanced color. HOYA HMC filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated lenses.
