Good used product

Good product, does its job. The buttons could be easier to use but shouldnt be an issue. Mounting has been a pain but with professional options, also shouldnt be an issue.

Nice Technology, but NO DOCUMENTATION!

from Exeter, Confusion, United Snakes.  -  Enthusiast

The ikan VL5 5" HDMI Monitor with Canon LP-E6 Battery Plate is a lot of technology built into a compact package. It provides a bright, high-resolution (800 x 480) image with virtually no distortion. Adorama offers it at a great price. Unfortunately, what ikan does NOT provide is a user manual. The "Quick Start" guide shipped with the monitor is USELESS. Honestly, it's essentially advertising: features and specifications, but NOTHING about how to use it. You will get more information from Adorama's page. The target market for this product is the enthusiast DSLR or digital video user. We're looking at, frankly, the bottom-end of the monitor users, people who are probably hobbyists and have no practical monitor experience – certainly not with one as sophisticated as the VL5. I'm no stranger to video monitors myself; with decades as a computer scientist I have used display monitors for years, but my video monitor experience is lacking, and forty years out of date (think, early 1970s monochrome CRT technology). Most buyers will look at the VL5 as a first monitor. If you aren't familiar with terms like Scaling, Peaking, "User – R/G/B," Guides, Blue Gun or Aspect, expect to spend, as I have, about half a day on the internet creating your own manual. If you are a beginner or enthusiast, the ikan VL5 is certainly a great piece of gear at a great price. That said, set aside a rainy weekend to learn to use it, as these clueless fools have decided not to waste their time showing you how to use it. Adorama says a two-star rating is for a product that "Needs That Special Something;" I think it's obvious here what that is.
