It's a great product, I've had these in the past and they were perfect. The older model didn't charge as fast, but to be honest it doesn't charge much faster. The charge time is exactly as stated (not very fast on my standards). I've yet to get AAA batteries to test it, but the AA batteries (included) work perfectly and although the charger itself may be a bit bulky for some and for travel, it is definitely made of durable plastic that won't block electrical outlets.

Takes 9 hours to charcge, but a slower charge will not burn up batteries as fast.

I have not used it long enough to report. I bought it so it would be available when I need it, and so weas attracted to the long shelf life. It has a reasonable charge time, so will be available for a number of household and photography needs.

9 hr timed charging prevents overcharging and should increase battery life. AAA difficult to insert.

Bought this to use with my older Kodak backup digital camera and my AA battery powered Sonicare toothbrush. Getting two brand name year-long charge NiMH batteries at this pricw would be great. Getting the batteries and a same brand charger was fantastic. Still on the first use right out of the package since they come pre-charged, but don't expect any problems with Sony brand.

Plug in, indicator light goes on and two AA batteries charge for 9 hours, then the light and charger go off. A trickle charger would have been superior, as would a light that changed from red to green when cooked. There is also no circuit to discharge the cells prior to recharging which extends battery life. Too new to comment on how long the cells will last.

The fact that this charger blinks if the battery has reached it's charging life is a very nice feature.
