Good product for the $$$

I am a professional wedding photographer and use this product as it is labeded, as a "Professional Camera Grip". It works just as well as the Canon grip but is inferior in durability. I have had to replace 2 of them because the arm that inserts into the battery compartment broke after extended use. However, I continue to use it because of Adorama's exceptional customer service and excellent replacement guarantee!

Not for tripod use

The bottom flexes when mounted on a tripod making it nearly impossible to do any precesion work on a ballhead with it attached. Also hard to keep it from working loose from the camera. I should have known better, you get what you pay for. Now I am going to buy the genuine Canon, no more will-fit stuff for me.

Good accessory for extra battery life

Allows for two lithiums or 6 AAs with the battery magazine, which is great flexibility if you don't want to fork out a ton of money for additional backup rechargeables. Fairly light, and nice ergonomic design, but best of all is the additional shutter and AF-lock button on the base. It makes shooting vertical shots a lot easier with a bigger camera body. Possibly due to the lightness, it can feel a little flimsy (though it probably is just fine). Not necessary if you just like walking around and shooting photos, but if you're an event photographer of any kind it's a must.

Cant beat the value.

This is a very good grip for the price. If you are budget conscious and don't want to pay the Canon premium, this is your stop. I have shot several weddings and portrait sessions and I have not missed a shot. Many times I have read bad reviews about non brand name having issues, this is not the case with this grip. I really like the rubber grip for this model. It feels really good in my hands. Now I cant speak for the Mark 3 model of Canon grip but I have owned the Canon grip for other cameras and this works all the same.

Why pay more?

If you have the cash and want the Branded product you should go for it. This product works for me and my budget. I have not used the branded product but can't imagine it's that much better to justify the price difference.

Very good product for the money!

This battery grip was part of the 5d Mark ii package I purchased in Dec. 2012. I will not be using the grip religiously, and did not want to shell out the money for a Canon grip just yet. I currently have it installed on the body, and it works very reliably. It doesn't have the solid feel of a Canon grip, and the dial that screws it into the body seems a little cheap when you turn it. But all in all I am very pleased and would receommend it to others. It's a deal for the price!

Great product for the cost

I brought this because the genuine Canon battery grip was far to expensive, this is easy as good at the Canon grip.

Surprised, Pleased.

After reading so many reviews that were mixed, I was uncertain, but it came with a package and I reasoned I could just toss it if it didn't work. To my pleasant surprise it has workrd without a hitch, right out of the box, however it has only been 3 weeks. Wonder about the battery door however. Doesn't seen to have a tight seal. Will see how it performs over time or in a misty environment. Great price makes it worth a risk.

Works well looks good

I was apprehensive at first, but after receiving the grip and putting it on my camera, I was very satisfied. I used it the very next day at a wedding and it worked fine. I actually received two, as I also bought one for my Canon 7D and have the same positive experience as well. Also, just this week I visited with a friend who also has one for his 7D and it is working great for him, and he uses it every day and, unfortunately, is very hard on his equipment and it is still working great after a full year!

Works if you get a good copy

I purchased this item and had to exchange it two times in order to get a good copy. The grip would not read the batteries, thus having you guess what the battery level is, which is NOT GOOD when shooting events. This is information you NEED to know. But works well for the money once you get a good copy. Probably going to upgrade to a Canon model in the near future because of reliability concerns.

Great buy!

This came as a package from Adorama with my Canon 5D Mark II. I have two other Canons with Canon grips and probably would have bought another Canon grip. I have only had it for about a month and I am totally impressed with it. It does everything that my Canon grips do, the quality and fit seems very good and it is a lot less expensive than the Canon product. I would buy another. I would definitely recommend it.

Great Product!

This is a really good value for the price. Even at such a low price I would say it is just as good as the Canon version. It fits very well and doesn't feel loose or plasticy at all. I saw a lot of comments on some other vertical grips that say the batteries don't fit correcly. That is not the case with this one. Also, has an on/off switch, helps if you are like me and accidentally hit the shutter button when moving around. Feel confident buying this grip.

Buy Canon

Used this for the first time when I shot my stepson's wedding recently; for the most part, it worked well. The thumbscrew that attaches the grip to the body came loose while I was shooting and, all of a sudden...NO POWER!!

Seems OK

Only had it 2 weeks but it seems to be as reliable as the Canon unit. Time will tell.

I would not be with out it.

This will extend your shooting time. I travel alot and this allowes me to carry fewer batteries. It balances well on the camera and is light weight.

great, no complain, cheap

After a year of use I can not complain, this is a great grip. I did not use the AA tray, but with 2 canon batteries, it workd great. I had a hard time choosing between Canon's one and this one, but now do not regret it. Great buy.

Cheap, barely gets by

I've owned 2 of these grips for use on my canon 5d mkii. They're inexpensive and feel fairly solid, but after a period of time both grips had issues where they stopped responding. I had to turn the grip off and on to get it to respond again - even with the camera on the whole time. Sometimes the grip wouldn't respond at all until I shut off the camera for a few minutes. I also noticed that the plastic flexes when on a tripod in portrait mode - at least with a 24-70 f2.8L attached. It's a minor annoyance but you have to compose your shots expecting some creep because of it. I returned both grips and I'm going with a canon grip this time.

Very good and resonable

I have the original one and I decid to get the copy one for my other two 5D II, I bought two pcs 3 weeks ago and i am using them without any problem, I couldnt see any deferance between the original one and these one, the quality is good and the price is very good for such good quality, I would advice my friends to buy it as it is as good as the original one

Terrific For The Price!

Time will ultimately be the judge, but for roughly a quarter the price of the Canon model, this grip really shines. The fit is good, the build seems solid, and everything works as it should. I've always purchased Canon grips on my previous cameras, and now I'm thinking I may have wasted a lot of money because of a name.

Total fail

This unit is a total piece of [*]. It doesn't mount solidly to the cera and causes it to shut off at the slightest touch. The cheap plastic construction is wreak, and the mounting screw in the bottom broke loose and got stuck on a trtipod mount I attached it to, resulting in me having to break it off to remove it. Epic fail. Buy the canon one

Good if on a budget

This is an excellent grip if on a budget. I'm not sure if I have a deffected grip but I'm not able to change from portrait to landscape with out have to turn off the grip. The Canon brand lets you do this with no problems.

Save Money By Getting This Grip

Have almost every Canon model and have bought the Canon battery grip. Decided to save a buck and see if this one works and is any good. Well, to my surprise this grip is almost identical to all the other grips and works perfectly. Looks, acts and feels like the more expensive grips. I would highly recommend this grip you will never know the difference.

Great alternative battery grip

Absolutly no problems with this product and certainly a better price than the Canon. I would recommend this alternative battery grip for the Canon 5D Mark II.
