great item, once I got one that worked

I purchased one of these when I bought my 60D. When I received it, the left LP-E6 spot in the tray would not recognize any battery I put in it, and I only have Canon batteries. I returned it for an exchange. The replacement I received had an altogether different issue. The shutter release button would not work properly. It would go the half way down to auto focus, but it took the strength of Hercules to depress it fully-which caused pulling of the camera to the side when taking picture. I r...

I returned that one for a refund. I received another grip from elsewhere and it works flawlessly. The weight balances larger lenses better than without and it just makes the camera feel "right". The huge gain in battery life is a great plus as well. I can shoot many vehicles at shows and not have to worry about going dead.

Being able to shoot portrait and maintain a solid base is great. As a back button shooter it's so comfortable to hold.

Great way to improve battery life. Can use with 1 or 2 batteries installed and if one is completely dead, the camera will still function normally. Great product!

Get the Grip!

It helps to have extra weight for stability when shooting video. A pleasant surprise was the extra tray for 6-AA batteries that came with it. Nice to know it's there if there's an emergency situation - run through ALL batteries and no outlet. It comes with a bag to protect whichever tray you are not using at the time.

Completes the 60D

By

from Coloma, MI  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

I just have not been able to use a camera body without a battery grip, ever. Camera bodies have always seemed to short to me, and I don't have big hands -- I always have at least my little finger left with nothing to hang to. With the BG-E9 my camera fits my hand so much better. It balances the body with a heavier lens beautifully.

A must for photographers/videographers

By

from Chicago, IL  -  Semi-Professional

A battery grip allows one to double their effect shooting rate, as well as give the user more comfortable options for vertical shooting. However, this does give quite a bit of heft to the camera and will make things a little more difficult when carrying it around all day. Still a must have.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
DARRYL A  brand.
Shopper  Is this unit a ORIGINAL Canon product? Please advise Mario
Karl P  Yes.
Shopper  Do you have to take the grip off the camera to replace the battery in the camera?
GARY R  No, the grip does not have to be removed. there is a battery holder assembly that sides out the side, very easy too change. Another nice feature is that it can hold 2 batteries, the camera runs off 1 until power level depletes then automactically switches to second battery. I had battery grips on my film cameras (A2 and Elan IIe). The BG-E9 is a far supior design. Hope this helps. I would highly recomment this product.
