DIGIC 4 Image Processor

The technology finds and tracks the faces of moving subjects until you're ready to shoot, then delivers perfect focus. In addition, exposure, flash and white balance are compensated, so that faces exhibit natural skin tones and backgrounds are properly exposed.
You're Alerted When Subjects Blink.
Nothing ruins a great picture more than having your subjects' eyes closed. That's why the PowerShot D10 is equipped with Blink Detection. If closed eyes are detected, a "blink warning" icon appears for 3 seconds, allowing you to re-take the shot before your subject or subjects move on. Blink Detection provides you with extra assurance when capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments like planting the flag at the summit of the mountain.

Not perfect, but very satisfied.
Not a super serious photographer, but have used some cameras and know a few things about them. This camera is good for any sort of outdoor adventure/travel snapshots. Took a trip to Negril Jamaica and used the camera everyday. Ended up with 800 photos from a 5 day trip. Was freaked out at first the the camera didn't have a lens cap. It appears that the glass covering the lens is replaceable if it gets scratched. Nervous about how much they're going to charge for that, but keeping it in a neoprene pouch until ready to use and then just being aware of it has safeguarded the lens so far, even after banging the body around a bit. Pictures turned out great, especially the underwater shots. After a few tries with the flash I decided to go without to avoid the reflection off floating debris in the water. There's a term for that, but I don't recall what it is at the moment. Still getting used to the various settings, but was able to figure them out reasonably well just by clicking around through the menus. Has done good in dim light settings, especially sunsets. At times the photos get a touch grainy when using the zoom. Nothing bad, but it's more noticeable when your enlarge them to full resolution on a decent monitor. All in all, the photos turned out much better than I expected and better than most others that I've seen from friends trips. If you want to take snapshots in various conditions, without regard for water, this is a good point and shoot to go with.

Went to DPReview and this camera got the best review so I got it. Played with it at home in preparation for a trip to the Caribbean. Pretty easy to use so I felt ready to go. In Belize I put on my mask and fins and off the boat. Great water, coral and fish. After 5 minutes the display goes blank, I tinker in the water with no success. I swim back to the boat to try a spare battery. While on the boat I hear that the camera is still taking photos(I think). So back to the water and all I can do ...View full Review
So back to the water and all I can do is blind point and shoot. Ends up I got some pretty good photos when I got back, but I didn't need the problems when I only had an hour or so to shoot. I got back to the cruise ship rinsed the camera off and let it dry. The display starts working again. At the next site in Grand Cayman the display goes off again after 5 min in the water. The camera is currently at Canon, don't know what they will do. Even if they replace it I don't think I would trust it on another trip. How do I test it when I live 500 miles from salt water. Make an ocean in my kitchen sink?

As a sea kayaker I need a waterproof camera. The Canon D10, like the Canon D20, is rated for underwater use to a depth of 33 feet. However, when the camera was just over one year old, my kayak caught a large starboard wave, capsizing my kayak. I immediately rolled back upright. My Canon D10 camera was no more than three (3) feet underwater for no more than six (6) seconds. The camera did not function after that. When I returned home I opened the battery case and observed that water had entered the camera. I contacted Canon and they wanted to charge me $179.00 plus tax plus shipping both ways for a refurbished D10. I expected Canon to stand behind their product, but they did not. I just purchased a second D10 because Adorama offered such a good price and am hoping this one will last longer that my first camera. When functioning, the D10 takes good photographs, although for action shots, it takes the camera forever to focus and take the picture after the shutter button is depressed. However, mechanically, especially in terms of waterproofing, it is NOT robust. The seal for the battery compartment wears out relatively quickly and Canon does NOT sell replacement seals. Unbelievable!
I really got tired of using separate and expensive water proof casing for my P&S cameras. The D10 solved the problem. Whether fishing rivers or snorkeling I know I can count on this baby to do the job!
Best little camera I own. My main camera is an advanced Nikon DSLR system. But I always have this little Canon with me. I have used it in water, mud, on my bike, etc. It is great. Takes great pictures and is virtually bomb proof. If you are active and always want a camera with you, this is the camera for you.
Bought it for taking pictures underwater. This will also be great for skiing and kayaking. My Canon EOS digital Rebel is too heavy and bulky for those activities. Love the macro. Have not tried all of the different features and can't wait to try.
I bought this for kayaking. It takes excellent photos for a point-and-shoot. It also starts much faster than the Pentaxes I used before. The one drawback is that the lens bulge makes it difficult to pull out of the pocket of my PFD -- or any pocket, for that matter.
I wanted a rugged point and shoot to use when there was time to use my dslr. It was handy in the downpour I experienced in Uganda while trekking to mountain gorillas. This year I intend to use it in Devil's Pool at Victoria Falls!
I take this into bad weather and salt and fresh water and has performed very well. Good IQ for the size. Good for close ups underwater as well. Don't like the design too much, but it contributes to the ruggedness and I can get it easily out of my pockets when sailing since it has nothing which can snag on things. Can take a fair amount of abuse snowboarding and skiing as well. Overall brilliant.
We use the camera during snorkeling at the Carribean and we took amazing pictures/videos underwater and they turned amazing !
love this camera. so rugged ... been dropped numerous times by my toddler + still works. love the underwater photos you get. worth the money!
