Make sure all covers are sealed tightly

snorkeling. Had it a little over a year and somehow water got inside. The camera is ruined. Need to explore different camera's for snorkeling.

Great to take on vacation

Great to take on vacation, no need to worry if you are on the beach, in a boat or in the water. But also good for normal daily use. I do not like the placement of the control buttons. The reverse button is next to the on-off button and photo button, my finger often hits the wrong one ( sometimes causing me to loose a good shot).

Liked it so much I bought it again.

After reviewing several underwater cameras last year, I conclude this camera's ease of use, numerous features, and durability made it a great deal for me. I was rewarded with a number of fantastic pictures, both on land and underwater, from a trip the Caribbean. I had to purchase a second camera when my original camera was lost just 3 days before my departure to Maui 2 weeks ago. Adorama, had a great price, and it was delivered the very next day after purchased with all the extras (extra rechargeable battery, Memory card flotation strap, LCD Screen film to prevent scratches). Both the Powershot D20 and ADorama exceeded my expectations. The only drawback I have with this camera, is that it does have a slow shutter compared to conventional cameras, and the wrist strap locations are on the bottom and is awkward to use.

Great waterproof camera

I purchased this for one trip to San Diego and thought it would produce only mediocre results. I call myself an amateur professional photographer- I shoot a T3i with an assortment of lenses in nature and also do property photography for real estate. I know a fair amount about cameras and photography in general. The camera itself is easy to use. Yes, it's a little funky to look at and they do have better looking waterproof cameras but this one feels sturdy. I used it on a jet ski. The wrist strap proved invaluable when I flipped off into the ocean and the camera was still strapped on. Note: The camera does NOT float. Back to sturdy- chances are when you are in a water environment the camera is going to bang around and possibly be dropped- no worries here. The metal body and rubber grips are great. Buttons are large enough. The funky curve on the side does fit your finger nicely. The picture quality was great- some complain- can't figure out why. I have always shot Canon and especially love their Digital Elphs dating back from years ago. The Power Shot line is excellent. The thing I noticed was that they pictures were always crisp and never under exposed. It compensated with flash more times that I would have personally but it made the subject just pop. The HD video works great as well. I would probably use this camera in place of my older digital elph except the blue case looks a little funky in more sophisticated settings =) I highly recommend this camera, worth it in the long run.

Works very well

Having ruined two point-and-shoots with sand on the beach, I bought the D20 before a recent cruise, and it did not disappoint. Near the water, on the water, in the water and underwater, the camera performed well. It changes the way you shoot when you stop coddling your camera to keep it free of rain and water. The lens can focus to within a centimeter or less when at the shortest focal length, and I like the manual focus feature. The video mode is also very sharp. And with the built-in GPS, you will wonder how you ever used a camera without it. I had fretted that there was no aperture-priority mode, but you can manually set the ISO and can set the metering mode and exposure compensation, so there is some exposure control. All in all, an excellent camera to have with you.
