About Canon T1i

The Canon EOS Rebel T1i EF-S Digital SLR Camera is packed with features, both refined and new. In addition to its admirable performance with an all-new 15.1 Megapixel Canon CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 Image Processor, a 3.0-inch Clear View LCD with anti-reflective and scratch-resistant coating and compatibility with the EOS System of lenses and Speedlites, the EOS Rebel T1i adds remarkable Full HD video capture at resolutions up to 1920 x 1080.

An HDMI port allows for quick connections to high definition TVs and monitors for easy viewing of your stills and video. The entire operation is simple and easy even if you are a beginner. You'll have uncompromised EOS Digital performance with power and flexibility right in the palm of your hand. Canon's CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) sensor captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range and offers the most pixels in its class. It offers many of the same new technologies as used by Canon's professional cameras to maximize each pixel's light gathering efficiency.

Its APS-C size sensor creates an effective 1.6x field of view (compared to 35mm format). Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor dramatically speeds up all camera operations for intuitive operation and offers improvements in both fine detail and natural color reproduction. It works in concert with the EOS Rebel T1i's image sensor to achieve unprecedented levels of performance in all lighting situations. The EOS Rebel T1i shoots brilliant video, even in full high definition. By simply selecting Movie mode on the EOS Rebel T1i's mode dial, the camera's 3.0-inch LCD lights up and it's ready to go.

Shooting is at a frame rate of 30 fps when shooting SD or HD quality video (640 x 480 and 1280 x 720 pixels, respectively) and at a frame rate of 20 fps in Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) recording. Sound is recorded through the camera's built-in microphone. Playback modes are simple to access, and all Live View AF features can be used in shooting video.

Excellent choice

I use this camera for all sorts of photography and I am pleased with the results I'm getting. I've printed up to 16 x 20 and the results are excellent. The Operating Manual is the best I've read in quite a while. If I were to change anything, I would go for a 18mm to 270mm lens as opposed to the 18mm to 50mm supplied.

Great camera, great price.

By

from Lansdale, Pa.  -  Photo Enthusiast

Bought this camera for a friend who was a very good film photographer but never bridged to digital. I've set it up with with my old friend Tamron 28-75 and am impressed with the results. I shoot with a 7d at home and a 7d MkII at work and wouldn't mind grabbing another one of these when for when I'm shooting motor sports events.

Nice Backup Body / IR Conversion project

By

from Albuquerque, NM  -  Photo Enthusiast

Not brand new but great as a backup body and conversion to IR project. Have used with a Recent purchased Tamron travel lens with GREAT results. Small and light enough for my petite wife to handle. Is only 15.1MPixel but price was excellent. I find used ratings at Adorama are spot on. Also, for a beginner on a tight budget the price was really right.

poor image quality, overexposed shots!

By

from boston ma  -  Photo Enthusiast

I am a medium level photo enthuisast who shoot wildlife (birds, etc), does macro (flowers and insects) as well as a little landscape and portrait photography. I bought this camera as a back up to my Canon EOS 60D (which I love and would highly recommend) and was very very disapointed! Very poor image quality for an 18 MP camera (EOS 60D performs much better with same lenses inlcuding tamron 18-270 mm lens and canon 100 mmm macro lens. Most shots were overexposed (again, canon EOS 60D used in similar shooting conditions performed much better). Slow and sluggish, camera was returned after 2 weeks because it is not worse [$]! Save up your money for a little longer and buy an EOS 60D (or equivalent), it's a much better camera than the T1i which I would not recomend, not even to a beginner who just want s to have fun (this camera is so bad that you'll get frustrated with terrible shots and won't have fun at all!)

Great camera for the price

Great as a disposable time lapse camera body. The cheaper these get the more disposable they are.

The camera is good entry level DLSR or second camera use in special event. The screen is crystal clear, easy to use, and I love it. The video standard is 3 years old, but still very good for my use.

Excellent Value

By

from Little Rock, AR  -  Casual Photographer

I actually bought this camera to use in astrophotography by attaching it to my telescope. I haven't a night of good "seeing" yet, but all seems to work well and the functions I need for now are there. This is not the best camera for this purpose, but it is more than adequate for now.

Great Entry Level SLR

By

from San Francisco Bay Area, CA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I used the camera in auto mode for almost 1 year and I am really impressed with the quality it delivered. I switched to Manual a few months ago and I am still learning. The possibilities this camera offers seems to be endless. This is a superb entry level SLR for the amateur photographer that fits really beautifully a Photography Student. Personally I think Full Frame is the way to go once one masters digital photography, thus the T1i is all you need to either get better pictures or learn how to take superb ones.

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
WES G  Great camera at an outstanding price. We have had NO problems buying refurbished cameras.
Roger R  Hello everyone, I've got aHp computer hooked up to a Kodak ESP 3250 All-In-One printer. Will I be able to print photos from this camera with that setup?
Roger R  a few corrections for that last post: kind instead if kid and 8 instead of *. Sorry, I'm a lousy typist.
Jan B  Hello, when you say REFURBISHED does that mean that the battery, etc included is also used (not brand new)?
JOHN T  I'm not certain if the battery is refurbished as well as the camera body but I do know that the battery does last at least as long as batteries that I know are new from the manufacturer. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another refurbished camera from Canon (or Nikon). Hope this helps.
