About Canon

Canon's large-area CMOS sensor captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range, and offers the most pixels in its class. This APS-C size sensor (22.2 x 14.8mm) has the same 3:2 ratio as film cameras, enabling an effective angle of view that is 1.6x the normal EF Lens focal length. With an effective pixel resolution of 3,904 x 2,598, the EOS Digital Rebel XTi offers superb detail and clarity, even in large prints, and generates finished files that open at approximately 30MB in your image-editing software.

On Canon's CMOS sensor, each pixel is captured with fine detail to create images of tremendous depth and resolution, ensuring enough information for even poster-sized prints. With the DIGIC II Image Processor on board, photographers can expect natural color reproduction, precise white balance in any number of lighting situations and unparalleled clarity.

The EOS Digital Rebel XTi has a brilliant 2.5-inch LCD monitor with approximately 230,000 pixels. All shooting and review information is accessed on the rear LCD monitor, and the wide viewing angle of 160° and brighter, easier-to-read menus give the new Rebel XTi LCD monitor an obvious advantage. When composing images, the Digital Rebel XTi's external display turns off automatically to prevent the LCD monitor's brightness from disturbing the photographer's eye. With a startup time of 0.2 seconds, the EOS Digital Rebel XTi is ready to go the instant it's brought to the eye. And the Digital Rebel XTi's shutter can record images as fast as 1/4000 seconds and as long as 30 sec., plus bulb at up to 3 fps for 27 consecutive shots. It synchronizes with Canon Speedlites at 1/200 seconds.

The EOS Digital Rebel XTi has a high-precision 9-point AF system for speedy and accurate focusing in any situation. photographers can recreate characteristics of their favorite films. Color, saturation, sharpness and contrast settings create noticeable variation in the saved image. In addition to six preset Picture Styles (Standard, Portrait, Landscape, Neutral, Faithful and Monochrome), users can create 3 additional settings for their particular photographic style.

Printing and uploading to a computer is incredibly simple with the Digital RebelXTi's Print/Share button. The EOS Digital Rebel XTi not only sports a newly-refined body with better ergonomics and an improved grip, but it also has some of Canon's most advanced improvements in dust reduction. The Digital Rebel XTi's integrated hardware and software solutions make trouble with dust a thing of the past.

The EOS Digital Rebel XTi features the acclaimed E-TTL II flash metering system. You can use it's flush-mounted integral flash or or any of the flashes in the EX Speedlite line. The EOS Digital Rebel XTi is compatible with all Canon lenses in the EF lineup, ranging from ultra-wide angle to super telephoto lenses, & including Canon's EF-S series lenses manufactured specifically for Canon's APS-C sized digital sensor.

Canon Digital Rebel XTi - Pro Review

After several days of use, this incredible camera has impressed me greatly. The focus is fast and precise, and the image quality is unrivaled in this league of consumer camera. It is terrific in the higher ISO ranges, producing almost no noise in the images. Test shots at 1600 ISO were by far the best I have seen. Even a pro can enjoy this little beauty.

Flash only works with hot shoe

Purchased it because everyone said it had a flash PC connector, [...]. It does not have a flash PC connector and fires multiple shots from it's canon flashes that make it difficult to set up flash pictures. I gave it away to a beginner friend and went back to my 20D for digital.

What took me so long to go digital????

By

from Smithfield, NC  -  Professional

I was very skeptical about going digital. I have the Canon 35mm rebel with also the 80-300mm lens. A friend suggested the digital and I just didn't think I would like the quality of the pictures. Well, after lots of thought, I finally bought it and now I wonder what took me so long. I just used it and shot about 100 pictures at one event. When I got home, I was able to delete the pics that I didn't like, before going and having them all developed and then sifting through the ones I wouldn't use when scrapbooking the event. I can't wait to take this one to Disney in September. Great purchase and I am very pleased with the easy to use ability of the camera. Since I am not that familiar with digital, I was some worried, but it is very user friendly.

Early Adopter - completely satisfied

By

from Woodbridge, VA  -  Professional

Most pros know you have to calibrate your camera. This was true with film, and it's more true with digital cameras. The most common complaint I've heard about the XTi (flash exposure issues) is totally correctable in just a few minutes from the camera setup menus. Otherwise, it's been an amazing camera, saving me thousands over the professional version with all the same features I use and higher resolution. It's a no brainer.

Great Camera -

By

from Cedar Rapids, IA  -  Getting started

I have had little success taking sports pictures of my kids with a standard digital camera. On the recommendation of a friend, I purchased this camera along with a Canon USM 70-300MM lens. This combination has been terrific. I have also been taking advantage of Canon's online training to learn photography in general and the operation of the XTI specifically. Overall I'm pleased with the XTI and I think it is something I can build on and use for a very long time.

No disappointment!

By

This is my fifth Canon SLR, 2nd digital and like the others, it has not been a disappointment. It has a solid and sturdy feel. And the prints have been beautiful. Definitely worth the money!

I was skeptical of going digital

By

from Arlington Heights , Illinois  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

I have been waiting for an affordable digital canon with more megapixels. This is it! I love this camera.I am impressed with the clarity of detail and the fact that I can edit my pictures before investing time and money to print them. It will probably be a while before I take some film shots with my EOS rebel. This camera has rekindled the shutterbug in me.
