Just bought this to replace my wife's aging 870IS. So far we have really enjoyed it. It is super small and the image quality and video have been excellent. I bought the underwater housing and am taking it on vacation later this week and will have a better idea of how it holds up then.
Great litle point and shoot. Limited zoom but excellent picture quality. Tried several others inclusing samsung, sony and olympus and this is the best of the bunch.
I've been a fan of Canon and their ELPH line for a long time. I bought the Canon PowerShot ELPH 110 HS Digital ELPH a few weeks ago as an upgrade from my SD780IS Elph from 2009, and that was a replacement for my SD300 Elph. I also have an XSi, but because of its size, that only comes out for specific occasions. The 110 HS fits with my past experiences with the ELPH line. It's small, compact, lightweight and it's the camera that goes with me everywhere. The 110 HS model retains all the things I love about the ELPH line, but with a few minor modifications. The buttons have been rearranged a bit on the body and it now has a dedicated video button and records in 1080p. The Program and Manual toggle has been moved to the top of the body by the shutter button. This isn't a huge deal, but I did consider whether this was ok for me before I bought it, thinking I might accidentally switch it, however, it hasn't been an issue in the few weeks I've worked with it. The power-up and shot-to-shot time seems much quicker to me than my SD780IS, which is certainly welcome, and may be due to the upgrade in processor from my old model. The preview screen is a substantial upgrade in size compared to the 780IS, mostly due to the real estate that was freed up from losing the viewfinder. I've also noticed the menus have been moved around a bit from my old model - different key strokes are required to delete a picture, for example - but it is easy enough to get used to. The drawbacks I can see are that there is no viewfinder, but those don't often get used on point-and-shoots anyway, so I can see why it was phased out and have come to learn that a viewfinder is a thing of the past on models like this. I have also read others saying that the buttons are too small or difficult to push, but I think that is a feature of a compact point and shoot; there's not a lot of room for buttons, so if you need larger buttons, perhaps this small of a camera is not for you. It is worth noting, though, that the buttons are flush with the body of the camera for the most part, they are not raised as I have seen on some cameras, so it does require a bit of dexterity to push them. Both of these issues though are personal preference, I personally don't see much of an issue with either one of them. Overall, if you're looking for a point-and-shoot that's reliable, of good quality and compact, this is a solid choice. I'm very satisfied with this camera as my newest ELPH upgrade.
I bought this camera as a simple point and shoot for my wife. We were both amazed at the sharpness and clarity of the photos, especially outdoors in bright light. When we got into the PDF manual on the instructional CD, we were even more amazed at the huge number of shooting options this camera offers. I think it would please almost anyone who does not require the manual capabilities of the larger and more expensive cameras.
great little camera!
I used it in several special church events for Christmas and New Year's. It worked great in all lighting situations. I especially liked the fact that you can turn off the sounds since it was being used in church situations. Didn't need the flash either. The only thing I didn't like was the software that came with it. I already had editing software that I like better so used that. The one that came with it is slow and cumbersome to use. It is a perfect camera if you are looking to take family and friend photos. I did take some flower pictures and it works great for those too. I don't know if I will need to use the other settings but they are there. Another plus is it's size. I keep it with me at all times, wouldn't want to miss a shot. :) The reason for the 4 stars is the software. It doesn't have a touch screen but that is OK with me but may be a deal breaker for some. I haven't had any problems with the rechargable battery but am going to buy a spare so I always have power. :)
I bought this camera on the recommendation of my nephew who is most knowledgeable about cameras and all things about information systems. I asked him to help me find the very best little camera I could find with no complicated instructions...he had just bought one for himself and had absolutely no doubts about it being just right for his 81 year old aunt...Consumer Reports in a flyer I received in the mail stated it was superior in every way to a $500 camera they had reviewed...so, we're in good company!!!!!
so happy i purchased this after reading all the great reviews. the size is perfect for a girl who loves to bring a camera everywhere and take good quality pictures without carrying a dslr. the buttons are simple and the camera is easy to use for camera newbies. it also has some great functions for those a little more proficient in camera settings.
