Excellent all-in-one for the money

This is a replacement for my 7 year old Canon printer which I loved. This was a snap to set up. Print quality is very good as are photos. It is noisy but whisper quiet once you set it to Quiet Mode which is an option on the printer's menu. All in all it is a great value - a very good product at an excellent price. Glad I bought it.

Terrible at feeding photo paper...

This printer has a really hard time feeding photo paper, or paper at all unless the paper feed tray is full to the top. Not recommended.

Great printer/scanner

By

from Atlanta, GA  -  Infrequent User

Duplex scanning, decent printing, and support for all the cloud printing. I do wish there were an option to scan to the printer and access it over the network. Maybe there is and I couldn't figure it out.

Nice looking solid hardware, poor photos

By

from Allen, TX  -  Infrequent User

Most disappointing are the photos. They come out very low contrast and muddy. Setup is complicated by needing a special type of alignment paper. Lastly on the hardware front, of the four times I've tried to use the auto document feeder, it has jammed three. One of those times it was because the paper was of card stock thickness. For the software, the overall software package is incredibly bloated, weighing in at 600 MB. Once installed, the interface is opaque and difficult to navigate especially for scanned documents. It places a large widget on the desktop with very little to explain what each button is unless you over. The initial quality setting for printing is very poor, but it is great quality when adjusted to the highest setting. Within printing preferences, some setting are adjusted through multiple panels. beware, if you set quality in a quick setting and switch to another preference panel, it's easy to inadvertently change the original setting.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
RAHUL S  Read the reviews and checked the price, functions. Good value overall. Have always bought Canon for printers.
Shopper  What type of paper for this printer?
RAHUL S  I use regular multipurpose paper from Target or from Costco, for routine stuff, works perfectly well. You can also use photo-paper for photo printing but I have not tried it.
Shopper  HOW DO I RECEIVE FAX ?
RICHARD H  receiving a fax is quite simple. 800-OK-CANON can guide you thru this on the side or rear of the machine are two phone jacks. One IN and One OUT. i have a dedicated fax line. from my dedicated fax line in the wall i have a cord that goes into the machine IN (input). that's it. you go to settings and set your receive mode. i set it to ring twice and receive. then the output jack i have a phone plugged in. if you have a phone line that is not dedicated fax line then you have options. plug it in the same way. Wall phone cord to IN and then phone to OUT and set how many rings you want to receive fax. good luck.
