The PowerShot S90 employs a newly developed, 10 Megapixel High Sensitivity System by combining a powerful CCD sensor and Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor. Thanks to this technological advancement, the S90 is dramatically more sensitive than cameras with identical megapixel counts, and delivers spectacular images with minimal noise. Increased sensitivity demands a higher ISO speed, and the PowerShot S90 delivers with a new maximum setting of ISO 3,200. Blur and camera shake are notably reduced for the ultimate in sharpness and clarity.
In addition, a new Low Light mode lets you capture images in an astonishing range of conditions. The camera automatically adjusts the ISO speed from ISO 320 to ISO 12,800 in relation to ambient brightness, subject movement and camera shake.
The PowerShot S90's RAW mode lets you shoot images without JPEG compression. It gives you clearer images and complete creative control in editing. RAW images are transferred directly to the computer where they can then be edited using image adjustment software or a processing application to adjust your images as you please. The camera can also be set to allow the simultaneous recording of both RAW and JPEG images while shooting.
Also, with 25 Shooting Modes including 17 Special Scene Modes, you're ready for whatever shot comes your way.
I am surprised. Took a few pictures and a couple are not clear. I have an old Canon one that puts out beautiful pictures., only got a new one because I could not take far away pictures. Have to check into the new camera further.
This camera is small enough to fit in a pocket or small fanny pack. The pictures are really sharp. For its size and price, it is a great camera.
I like the fact that I can carry this with me wherever I go, and it takes very good pictures in most conditions. It fits nicely in a pocket or bag.
While I loved my D90 while I had it, I wanted to play with the dynamic range built into the D95 and would recommend the D95 over the D90.
i just hated how slick and hard to hold this little camera was. it was easy to drop. i also hated how the control knobs kept moving so easily and they would mess up the settings i wanted. also, this camera would drop exposure on any outdoors background. it was awesome for indoor shots without flash.
When i'm on a trip and don't feel like dragging my gears around. This fits nicely into my jeans pocket. The only thing i hate about it is the colour reproduction... i wish canon won't smoothen out the picture and turn skin tone pale as much as they are doing now... else this would almost be the perfect P&S.
Basically this is an amazing camera in every respect. But the one that counts is the low light shooting. With that sensor you get the kind of pics the pros take and you can do it on the sly. No flashes required
+ Picture quality for such a small camera - Wheel is horrible, gets accidentally activated the whole time. It's even too loose to change the settings reliably. - by switching to 'view mode' settings like self timer and manual focus get lost. -- this even is the case in custom mode!
Used my camera to take pictures at dusk in DC. Amazed how it turned out to be. Beautiful detail clear pictures. Even when you`re walking while taking pictures, even if it's againt the light. And when I posted my pictures online, i had a lot of compliment. That's how perfect my pictures turned out ot be with this point and shoot camera. Awesome!
Handy, pocket-sized wonder.
