Just touch your finger to the huge 3.5-inch wide PureColor System LCD screen with Touch Panel Technology and the PowerShot SD3500 ISDigital ELPH responds - creating a fun, natural interface that's just the way you want to interact with technology now. When shooting, you can choose an AF point, select a shooting mode, operate the flash, set exposure compensation and more simply by putting your finger to the LCD screen. Playback functions are also performed at your touch: switch between images, scroll display, magnify a portion of an image and control movie playback. And with 461,000 dots, the LCD gives you high quality viewing.
More Image, More Fun.
Capture sweeping landscapes and tall buildings with a 24mm ultra Wide-Angle Lens, and 5x Optical Zoom with Optical Image Stabilizer.
Despite its slim profile and small body, the PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital ELPH is equipped with a 5x Optical Zoom - no more sitting on the sidelines with the action too far away. The lens is ultra Wide-Angle, with a focal length of 24mm. That puts more image in every shot for visual excitement and a high-end feel. And the best part? Even at the long end of the zoom, images are clear and steady thanks to Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer that controls camera shake.
Create Movies in Stunning HD.
720p HD movie shooting capability plus HDMI output connector for easy playback of video and photos on your HDTV
The PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital ELPH lets you record video in beautiful high definition (1280 x 720 pixels). The camera also makes it easy to enjoy HD movies (and still photos) on your HDTV with a mini-HDMI connector for direct connection to a high definition TV monitor. You'll enjoy the HD experience with no degradation of image or audio in the signal, plus the ability to display up to 130 thumbnails at once.
Instant Creative Control.
Smart AUTO will do the work for you by intelligently selecting the proper settings for the camera based on 22 predefined shooting situations.
Just set the Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital ELPH to Smart AUTO and you're ready for maximum enjoyment from your picture taking every time. It's a relaxing and satisfying way to shoot because you can completely concentrate on your subject knowing that the camera has the technical details covered. Advanced Canon technology intelligently analyzes your situation and shooting conditions. Then it automatically selects an appropriate setting from specially defined settings. So whether you're photographing flowers, a captivating sunset, or your friends at the park, you can be confident that you're getting dramatic, memorable images. Even if your subject is moving, Canon's advanced detection technologies capture the action as it happens.
Creative Effects Take Your Photos Further.
Bring creativity to your photos with new scene modes such as Miniature Effect and Fisheye Effect. Plus Low Light mode for dimly-lit situations.
The Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital ELPH offers creative effects similar to those once found only in professional lenses. Miniature Effect creates an illusion where very large objects appear in miniature. Turn soaring cityscapes into a scene in seeminglydollhouse-like proportions.
Fisheye Effect uses barrel distortion to warp the image around the center, giving a distinctive curvature effect to the photo. The curvilinear images produced by Fisheye Effect can suggest the curve of the Earth, the inside of a dome, or the image you see through the peephole of a door.
With an ISO of 400 - 6400, the Low Light mode takes the Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital ELPH where no ELPH-Series has gone before - into the shadows! Now even scenes notorious for having insufficient light, such as those lit by candles, fire, or street lamp, come through in fantastic color and clarity, with less noise. You can keep the feel of the scene intact without adding additional light, so the result will be scenes with the visual accuracy, depth and clarity you expect from a Canon camera.
Technologies That Do the Job for You.
New Smart Shutter technology automatically takes a picture when the subject smiles or winks.
Smart Shutter, which includes Smile Self-timer, Wink Self-timer and Face Detection Self-timer, detects faces in the scene and releases the shutter automatically in response to the appearance of an additional face, or when a smile or sassy wink occurs. These technologies help to make your photography less rushed and more natural, so getting the perfect shot is even easier.
There are many Canon SD Series Elph Cameras to ponder. But it was simply a toss up between this fine camera, and the Elph 500hs. But I wanted the larger LCD screen for playback, videos and love that the F stop is 2.8 vs. other models. In addition, the true Wide Angle format is superb. All touch screen is really nice and the future for most electronic devices. This is my third SD Elph camera and all are still excellent quality. Canon by far as great reliable products. For those less knowledgeable regarding features: Its important to have lower F Stop for low light situations. And the other factor is the lens going from Wide Angle to Tele. 24mm Lens is great to have, to capture group shots of family , friends and what the naked eye captures. The HDMI output is also great for sharing proud pictures and videos directly to the Widescreen HDTV . This is a great camera with no complaints here.
I carry this unit most of the time. I works great for documenting site construction.
The camera takes disappointing quality pictures. I have owned many Canon cameras in the past years and this one has the worst quality pics. My old Canon a95 with 5 megapixels and Canon a480 with 10 megapixels shot photos that looked brilliant compared to this camera. Even my old G3 had better looking images. The photos are flat, grainy, and just plain uninspiring. On the pro side, the LCD is awesome and the touch settings are fun to use. The video is also awesome. If it weren't for the video, I would give up on this camera.
I have owned 3 Canon digital cameras and two other brands. While I love Canon, I really dislike this camera and I am so sorry that I purchased it. It is difficult to hold this camera still while trying to use the touchscreen. Not only was it more expensive than other models that I have purchased, it did not perform near as well. Half the photos are dark, even in good light situations. I sell on eBay and take hundreds of close-ups a week. You cannot use the zoom on this camera for close-ups of fine details; everything is blurry. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, I would not recommend this camera.
My wife got it for me on fathers day and we absolutely love it!! No problems or whims as of yet. Takes even better pics than our bigger Canon powershot! All around awsome camera!
I love the camera after I read the entire manual (which I printed) and learned more about using it. It was a little frustrating until I did this. I bought it about a month ago and practiced taking immaterial pictures while reading the manual. There is one feature that I want to use, however, that refuses to work--setting touch actions. The touch actions are set, but camera will not perform the action when you touch the screen in desired path. I may take it back to the store to see if something is wrong with the SD3500 IS. Since I have only had it a month, they may replace it if they can not make it work either. Unfortunately, the clerks at the store where I purchased it are not knowledgable about the different cameras. Also, I don't think the Calibration works! I am happy with the pictures I have taken so far! It seems to be a good camera for the price if I can get these two feature fixed!
The SD 3500 IS is, I think, my 6th Canon Powershot camera. Unfortunately, it is the one that I most dislike. The touch-screen interface is terrible. It is slow and difficult to select options. I have liked all of my other Powershot cameras. I strongly recommend against purchasing this camera. Canon's Powershot line is great but this camera represents an unfortunate deviation for Canon. I am saving up for a newer Canon and I will NOT get a touchscreen!
I am extremely happy with this model dispite an initial problem that required me to return the original camera after only 26 pictures to the dealer who replaced it. The problem was with the electronics with the touch screen...none of the setting would respond. I now am back into the new replacement camera and have really enjoyed it. I have had 4-5 Canon cameras, including an early Rebel, and this one is truly exciting with the large screen and the 14 mega pixel capabilities. I do not have any "Cons".
Image quality is amazing. Fairly easy to use for casual picture-takers. It makes taking pictures funner.
After procrastinating about buyig a newer camera,I ask myself the question WHY did I wait? This new generation still as easy to use as my old ELPH, but so much better. Not a tech person this camera is simple to use and perfect size for travel.
