Power-packed small monster

My wife liked it the moment I unpacked the camera for small factor. She even doubted if it is a smart choice. I assured her that I selected it after going through zillions of reviews and will definitely match your taste. Once she started taking pics, she really got glued to it so much that it was always in her palms throughout our travel. She never parted with it even giving up her best hand bag. Initially, I was skeptical about image quality but once I uploaded my laptop, I was amazed at the quality. I felt that I woke up her photographic instincts with this camera which is dormant till now. Now, she is dieing for DSLR :-(. My wife started with auto mode but she felt she can do better by using manual options. I chose this camera for the manual options it provides at slightly extra premium. Initially, it was hit and trial and it took some time for us to get used to the correct options to match the moment. Some pics were blurry but it might have been due to our inability to choose correct options. My only qualm is, it would have been great, had Canon provided a small photography book. It could have helped us exploring all the options in more elegant way. over all, Me & my wife pretty much satisfied with the camera.

Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS

By

from Montana

Megapixels and photo quality good. Like a lot of people, I've neglected to read the instructions so it's taken me a while to figure things out. I wish the camera had a view finder rather than just an LED screen. Also, no matter how I set the camera I can not take a photo when I hit the "take" button. It is always delayed regardless of the "action" setting or not. I wouldn't recommend it for taking photos of your kid making hoops or touchdowns as the moment would be gone. However, it takes fantastic photos of most everything else. I can get seriously great up close photos of flowers with spectacular color.

I would buy this product again and again

By

from Moldova,Chisinau  -  Semi-pro Photographer

First of all I was verry satisfied about the price, I found the best offer on Adorama. In general this camera is one of the best product on the market, I was realy impressed when I used it in Low Light Condition, it makes incredible pictures even at hi-ISO and records incredible HD 720p video. The build quality is also impresive it gives trust. The only one limited thing is the zoom only 3.8x Optical zoom. But if you like just to make good pictures and amazing video quality this one is the right choice !

Not what I expected

By

from Corona, CA  -  Casual Photographer

The ratings for this Canon SD4000 praised simple point and shoot qualities in low light conditions using the automatic mode. The camera was purchased at the last minute before attending a wedding so minimal time was spent reading and using written documentation. After reviewing the shots taken at this event, plus the pictures taken from my years old Canon SD800is I am reminded of how good the older Canon cameras are and what a poor choice this new Canon is. I will now take the needed time to review and hopefully set up this new camera to improve picture quality but I can safely say this is NOT a pick up and shoot indoor camera.

Small body, BIG function

By

from Boca Raton, FL  -  Casual Photographer

I use this compact point&shoot camera as my pocket camera with 5D Mark II. This little one has superior low-light performace. You just can't go wrong with F2.0. Plus, the red color is HOT. Highly recomend it to everyone.

A wonderful little machine.

By

By far, the best pocket camera I've ever owned. Very fast power up to first shot. Automatically adapts very well to various shots and light levels. Only 4x zoom, but it's perfect for every day.

Not happy

By

from California

I always want to keep updated with the new canon cameras, so I have been a loyal canon customer for 10 years and have maybe had 6 different cameras. I have always been happy with their products except for this one. I purchased this camera 3 months ago and was really excited about the light weight and sleek design especially for the price that it was going for. The pictures don't come out as clear as the other cameras I've used in the past. One night for my birthday all the pictures came out horrible, my iphone took better pictures than the camera did. This camera really made me want to change and see other camera companies.
