I use this card to enable my Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 to shoot tethered. I've found no other option. I shoot portraits against a green screen. The Eye-Fi card facilitates transfer of RAW and JPEG to my computer. JPEGS transfer much faster than RAW files (because of file size.) I use FXHome PhotoKey 4 (set to watch the Eye-fi upload folder and automatically export the replaced background) and Adobe Lightroom (set up to watch the output folder from PhotoKey) so that customers can immediately see a mock up of the results and select the best portrait. Unfortunately I've noticed that in a room full of people with cell phones (wireless noise), transfers can be unreliable or slow. My solution is to move the camera closer to the computer. I recommend if shooting tethered that the camera and the computer be within 20 feet. I also use an Apple Airport Express to setup a local wireless hotspot to link my Eye-Fi card and my computer anywhere I go. Although the Eye-Fi card has the ability to connect directly to my computer by setting up it's own wireless hotspot, I have found that it is not as reliable as using the Apple Airport Express. Software setup took a while to get right on my Macbook Pro. I needed to go to the Internet and update the software that came on the card. Setup was also not intuitive, but I figured it out after some playing around. Everything works and all in all I'm satisfied.

Does not work w/ Nikon

Tried to use this in a d5100. I wanted it to work in Direct Mode only. After 3 weeks of customer support w/ EYE-FI, they threw up their hands, and said it doesn't work in direct mode w/ Nikons. I inquired w/ Nikon, but have no response as yet. EYE-FI admitted that Direct Mode was more or less an afterthought. They're more interested in sending your cute snapshots to facebook. Hopefully some enterprising company will pick up that ball and run w/ it.

Upload slow

By

Takes quite a bit of time to upload particularly videos. I bought this to take video interviews of family members and not run out of memory. Hope it works well.

Remove the word "Pro" & it's ok.

By

The setup and use was straight forward and easy. The negative is the file transfers can not handle the large RAW files sizes fast enough for professional use. I was using this with a Canon 5D3 in studio, and was hoping to speed up my work flow by having the files automatically sent to my PC as I took them. Unfortunately the file transfer speeds were way too slow and you'll use up the 8GB space in no time.

Product doesn't live up to expectations

By

I'm using a Nikon D90 and tried setting Eye-Fi for direct link to my iPad. The product is simply immature--looks like they released it well ahead of when it should have been. Set up fails out of the box, requiring software and firmware updates immediately. Connection between camera Eye-Fi and iPad is dropped regularly. Pix take forever to show up on the iPad--and many never arrive. It's clearly not "instant" as the product is advertised. Eye-fi is a great idea with poor/premature execution. I returned mine and will wait until this product matures or a competitor beats them to it. Maybe Apple will step up to this challenge!

Eye-Fi card

By

I love this card. I wish I could afford one for each of my cameras. It does work/fit in all of my cameras that use a regular SDHC card. I can use it in which ever camera I am using that day. I have Nikons, Canons, Kodaks so I believe it will work in most brands(probably not Olympus cameras, unless they use regular sdhc cards now. I know they use to only use the card made by olympus)

Unreliable

By

I purchased two of these, thinking that they would be a great addition to my cameras, particularily for extended travel. At various times, each of them has become corrupted, losing the photos stored on them. When this happens, the photos are unrecoverable. I tried 5 different programs including Sandisk, Stellar Phoenix, Photo Recovery, Disk Drill and another I can't recall at the moment. A lot of wasted time and money, but not a single photo recovered due to the proprietary system. While these may be OK for casual photography, where loosing a days photos is an acceptable risk for the cards convienance, I will never use one again for any critical work. Best for casual point and shoot photography rather than mission critical work

Don't Buy this for Nikon D800!

By

Just received email confirmation from SamF at Eyefi, this does not work in the Nikon D800 in Direct mode. I can't get it to work in any mode, but Direct Mode is probably the reason why any professional would use it, and is why I bought it. Don't waste your time with this device.

Questions about this item:

wallygater w  I have a Sony VG10 will it work??
DAVID G  I don't know anything about the VG10 so I'm afraid I can't be much help. If it takes SD media, it SHOULD work for recording purposes (the Eye-Fi Pro X2 is rated as a Class 6 device, so check your documentation on that.) If you want to wirelessly transfer video, however, the Eye-Fi will not do the job. It sends JPEG's (and RAW) still images only so AVCHD video would need to be processed the old fashioned way.
wallygater w  Thanks David. Can I send it back if it dose not work? The VG10 will take the card Class 6 is ok for video but I use it mostly for photos.
