Unlike the previous reviewer, I have used my Sandisk 2 GB Extreme IV cards in this thing without any problems. A whole card is transferred in only a few moments. The 4" view screen gives you some incredible resolution for such a small size and let's you better evaluate your images in the field or at home with friends. After shooting some of my parents' flowers around the home, I was able to transfer the images to the P-3000, have my Mom select the images she wanted me to print (it has this cool "favorites" button which marks images with a star), and store those in a separate folder for when I had time for post and printing. You can even do slideshows with music and all if you are into that sort of thing. All in all, if you are one who wants backup A.S.A.P. and likes to view your images on a nice sized screen but you don't want to haul around your laptop, this is the item you want. Only very slight criticism is the unit is a bit large and has some weight to it, but if you are purchasing this thing, you likely already own a DSLR and camera bag in which you can easily store this toy. Just go get one, it's a really good time!

Avoid the Epson photoviewers

I bought (and try to use) the P-2000. As far as I can tell, that is the same machine, although with a lower storage capacity. I presume the operating system is the same. I have used the viewer as a way to back up memory cards (and view pictures) while on extended field trips. The interface is awkward and somewhat slow, but tolerable. However, when it comes to deleting files from the Saved data section, it is intermittently impossible. Even when the data is removed, and I am left with a series

Even when the data is removed, and I am left with a series of "empty" icons cluttering the Saved data space, with no obvious way to get rid of them: the machine won't let me delete same. The first time I dealt with Epson help on this issue, multiple phone calls, multiple people to talk with, and they eventually replaced the machine. Am now having the identical problem with the replacement. A product that is definitely not worth the hassle - look for alternatives to the Epson photoviewer system.

Poor quality plastic in covers for ports

By

from Honolulu, Hawaii

I purchased this some time ago, and just now unpacked and set it up. I was disappointed that both of the door covers for the charging port and the USB and Video connections sockets kind of crumbled when I first opened them and the plastic is so soft it kind of dissolved and neither door can be put back on the unit, leaving the sockets exposed and not looking very professional. I hope I can get replacement doors for this.

Epson P-3000

By

Great digital photo viewer and back up device. My desktop crashed and lost all of my Lightroom 5 images. I had all of the photo's on the Epson P-3000 and was able to transfer them back to the Desktop PC. As a viewer the screen is big and bright. Highly recommended.

On-the-go and on-the-spot. Great in viewing and zooming in RAW files. Extremely compact and portable vs netbooks. Great LCD.

Great for storing and showing pictures

By

from White Bear Lake, MN

I've owned this device for about three years. I am not a professional photographer by any means, but it is a hobby for me. I use the P3000 in conjunction with my camera all the time. I immediately transfer pictures off of my storage cards on to the P3000 to review and often times to share. I've used it several times to hook up to a TV and give a slide show for family and friends. I've had no problems doing anything I've wanted to do with this device. I had issues with it not wanting to connect with one of my PCs, but it turned out to be a PC issue. So, in three years, I'd have to say it has been flawless.

works fine

By

from Eugene OR  -  Casual Listener

I used it in Africa and downloaded 20GB. Worked great. It works fine with my 8GB 300x speed Canon 5D cards. To eliminate the "ghost" files after you erase you have to go to the computer and delete from within the program. It is a bit wonky in its function. I bot the 40GB--big mistake. Should have had 160GB for the raw files. Might buy a 160 next

Digital Photographer needs this.

By

from Salinas, CA

I have been using the P-3000 for 10 months, and I think the P-3000 designs for amature to professional photographers. The P-3000 can play video clips and full length movies (conversion required). Pop the Compact Flash card into the P-3000, back up all photo files, then continue shooting. The P-3000 can also play music, such as MP3 files. All three features above, the P-3000 replaces a laptop being carry around. The P-3000 is less than 1 pound.

Fantastic Tool For All Photographers

By

from Bryn Mawr, PA

Having the ability to "dump" your daily photo shoots into a device that will hold them for subsequent download is a real photographer's dream. The fidelity of my Raw images are not compromised. The photos can be edited for keepers or the trash can and having each soot identified by date makes for great organization. Keep up the good work, Epson.

P-3000 The greatest!

By

from Hartland, WI

I purchased a P-3000 after seeing a friend use one for his digital photos. When I started shooting digital, I knew I would get one! I love the ease of use and the large screen on this unit. I have even uploaded TV episodes to watch while waiting for flights in the airport! I have taken photo trips without it & wished I had it! Not only is it great to review what my shots look like, it's also a handy secondary storage device.

great product

If your pictures are important to you being able to back up quickly guarantees that they will not be lost. Also, the screen is big enough to share the pictures. It’s perfect if you don’t want to lug your laptop.
