Great Tool

I use my P-7000 in my digital workflow 100% of the time. This provides me with redundancy to help ensure against lost data. During a photo-safari my P-7000 has replaced my laptop PC for image storage. This device was a hard sell to myself but now that I have experienced its benefits I can not imagine working without it. It goes everyplace I carry my camera.

Every stock agency in the world uses, sells and accepts P JPEG which is the most used progressive QT stock use. This detracts from it's ability to take sample videos on trips without converting first. No time to do this conversion. Epson please update to include progressive video P JPEG viewing. Another benefit would be hot exchangeable hard drives. Off the shelf replaceable. The screen is great unless in sunlight. In sun the very glossy display is not useable. So overall; a good product but real drawbacks for professional use unless it is strictly used as a backup hard drive while in the field.

best storage

By

from Dallas, TX

I have used Epson storage for a long time. I now have the 7000 as main downloader and the 3000 if I need more. Terrific storage that needs small space and no hassle of carrying a laptop, which I always felt I needed to have backup drive in case of crash! Epson has never failed in my traveling 65 countries . Only regret is that I cannot view videos taken with SLRs. It does show me that I have downloaded it, just can't SEE it. It is great for initial culling of shots since you can see detail closeup.

Very reliable storage system

By

from watsonville, CA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

The storage system is small and compact. It is an excellent back up for my laptop. The only drawback is the 160GB capacity. When I shoot at 8 fps(RAW), I tend to use up the storage capacity. The competitors have products which have 250-500 GB but I question their reliability.

About Viewer

By

from Freiburg Germany

The Viewer is amazing tool to work and I enjoy it a lot. Preview of your images and storage are fantastic. The only issue is that the unit has no firewire 800 / 400 and will be a plus if epson will consider add it in the next release since tethering will be more wide supported by using high end cameras. Also I will love to see this tethering feature working with high end digital backs like hasselblad or mamiya, aptus or leaf but I will be happy if the next release will support hasselblad digital backs tethering and raw file format. Please add firewire in the next release!!! This will be a plus to compatibility and fast storage for great range of cameras and not only a USB support like it has now... Epson thanks for hearing the photographers.

Great Travel Companion

By

from Chicago, IL

Just returned from field testing my new Epson P-7000, and it performed flawlessly. With its compact size, it is a great alternative to lugging a laptop around with my photo gear. I do recommend purchasing a second battery for it when traveling. When doing extensive reviewing and editing of images, you do exhaust them quickly. I have only one suggestions for future improvement: a larger capacity model! Otherwise a great photo viewer; I'm very happy with mine.

all you'd ever need

By

from OR  -  Photo Enthusiast

I had an epson 40Gb viewer and foolishly gave it to my son. I shoot raw and this 160Gb gives me storage in remote areas like costa rica and africa without having to worry about running out of cards or downloading to my laptop. I don't do much editing with it beyond just culling duds. My other epson worked great and I see no reason to think this won't too. great product. Bot a 200 Gb competitor and threw it away on a photo shoot as it was nothing but junk--starts with a J. Don't buy anything but an epson far as I'm concerned and nobody pays me to say this.
