V600 Photo Scanner Comments

I have been using my scanner for about a month and totally enjoy it. It produces the excellent results that it has stated in brochures. I would recommend this unit to anyone that wants to transfer slides or negatives into digital pictures.

I'm using this scanner ...

I'm using this scanner for home photos and although the quality is good, it's much too slow as I can only scan one photo at a time. I have tooooo many to scan and it's taking forever.

Software update

By

from san Mateo

After installing the latest version of Apple OS 10.10.3, the software for my printer did not work anymore. Eventually I visited your website and downloaded a new version of Epson software. All is fine. My question: Why did Epson not inform me of the new software?

By

from Priest River, ID.

I am working on old pictures and have had no problems with the scanner. I have not used this scanner for anything but pictures so don't know how easy it is to use scans or other programs

Love our Epson Perfection V600 Scanner!!!

By

from Charleston, SC

We just received this scanner today and it was an easy setup to connect to our laptop and the software installed with no problems and is user friendly. It is lightweight and does not take up a lot of space. We followed the quick easy instructions to test all of the functions, such as scanning images, negative slides and film, enlargements, etc. and are very pleased with the results. We have a 40 plus year collection of negative slides and film, which we will be scanning and will use it for large format scanning, desktop publishing, etc. The v600 scanner provides the technology for us to use in our home and is an upgrade for us, so that we don't always have to pay for a professional to do the job. We are absolutely pleased with our purchase and highly recommend this product. We give a 5 plus star rating!!!

Good versatile scanner

By

from Washington, DC

The quality of the pictures are good for a scanner at this price. Set up is easy. Does a great job with photos and slides. The ease of use makes scanning a breeze. The software is easy to use and the scan times are pretty fast. I scan a lot of artwork/illustrations (I teach college art classes), and the results are very good. Color settings (all settings) are very easy to use.

A wonderful tool

By

from Greenville,NC

I have been using my V600 to scan a very diverse array of images: color slides, Negatives (both black & white and color) and a variety of prints in both black & white and color. I have examined my originals and the scans under high power magnification and am delighted with the fidelity of the scans! The interfaces with Photoshop work perfectly as well. I was very pleased with an earlier Epson scanner; this one was a great upgrade!

3-1/2 Years Later

By

from Boulder, CO, USA

I definitely like it. It’s reliable. Warm-up time is short. Colors come out well. Can scan 4 or more photos and each is automatically separated into its own file. Automatically straightens each image (well, most of them) when the master is put in at an angle. Switching to or from the mode for scanning slides is not too difficult, and the scanning results are very good. Speed for up to 300 dpi is acceptable. What I don’t care for is that it doesn’t scan all the way to the edges of the bed, and it doesn’t always detect the edge of a piece of paper correctly; it's slow in scanning with higher resolutions (but does a very good job); if you have to scan a large image in two parts, the greyshades in the two parts don’t always match where the two parts overlap; I’m not impressed with the ICE dust removal capability (perhaps I don’t know how to use ICE.); and the cover is hinged on the short dimension, so you can only lift it in an area with lots of vertical clearance.

Better than I thought it would be

By

from Northern Nevada

I previously used an Epson Perfection 2450 scanner. Although the V600 and the 2450 are flatbed scanners, they do a reasonable job with film, the V600 definitely better. I recently scanned a 35mm Tri-X B&W negative at 4800 ppi (16-bit) and enlarged it to 11x17 on my Epson R2000 printer. The result was remarkably good. I just wish the V600 accepted 4x5 film, like the 2450 did.

A lot of scanner for the money!

By

from Olympia, Washington

I have scanned nearly 8,000 35mm slides and negatives with the V600 scanner. I have found it to be easy to use; I use it almost exclusively in full automatic mode. At 600ppi I get a 3600 x 2400 pixel image from a 35mm slide or negative that looks very good on a 22-inch monitor. The only complaint I have is that, after about 7,000 scans, the scanner began to put a narrow black strip on three sides of the scanned image. That doesn't detract from the usefulness of the scan, and I can crop it off with Photoshop if I choose. I have recommended the scanner to a colleague, who is using it in the office with good results. For the money I don't think anyone could expect more. Now, doggone it, I have to come up with metadata for those nearly 3,000 scans!

works well

By

from Boston, MA

The scanner, works as it should. The scans can be adjusted for resolution, so you can get bigger or smaller files. I bought it for scanning color and bw negatives. For that it works fine, although it is suppose to separate the pictures (in case there are 3/4 pics on a 35mm neg.). Sometimes you have to separate them manually. The photo program that is packaged with the scanner is fine; i thought i might have to use my Adobe Photoshop, but the smaller program does all that i have to do.
