Good Printer!

I have had my printer a few months now. I is working nicely. Only drawback is that the set up and use instructions are a tad deficient. It took me quite a while to correctly figure out where to load the paper when I first used it. Poor memory had me go thru a bit or work to figure it out. I now have an info file to remind me how and where to load it. Best feature is that it is not an ink hog!!

Ink consumption is extreme

Superb print quality and functionality, but this printer eats ink. Once one cartridge is empty (after 10 pages max), you cannot print. It is infuriating to not be able to print a black text document only because one color cartridges is empty. Also, when installing a new cartridge, get ready to spend 1/2 an hour doing up to 5 nozzle checks before it prints without skips.

Epson xl800

By

from San Jose, CA

My old workforce 500 finally quit due to paper jam. It lasted for over 6 years. The xl 800 works as well as the wk500 AND it's wireless all though I've only used it for copy and scanning functions and those work great. Only worry is ink usage. Printing out my income tax for storage (56pages)nearly emptied the black ink cartridge. Time will tell if this is a continuious problem, however the cost of each cartridge for the xl 800 is lower than my old workforce 500. Over all I am very pleased with this new printer and hope to use it for many years.

One of the worse printers ...

One of the worse printers I have ever owned. The photo quality is just awful. Not happy about this machine at all.

Epson xp 800

By

So far the printer is working as it should. The first one they sent me did not print right out of the box. The only fault I find is that it is an ink hog. I only printed about 10 or 12 black & white text pages & the black cartridge ran out of ink. The color cartridges are about half empty. One good feature is that when the black cartridge ran out of ink I was still able to print. The printer asks you if you want to use the photo black ink. That's about all I have to say.

This printer is amazing, first it is wireless and all the functions work great. It prints excellent text as well as photos. It has two paper trays, one for photo paper and one for text. It can also print right on a dvd, although I have not tried that yet. It also prints on both sides without your touching anything and does it well. The one drawback to this and all other printers is the cost of the ink, it is outrageously high. All in all I like this printer a lot and hope to use it for many years.

I love this printer!

By

from Wilmington, NC

I highly recommend this product. It is easy to use- very basic. I love the touch-screen and the viewing window. I am putting together some memory books for my mother's 80th birthday and have used the scan function for old photos and Family Tree info. And you can't beat the printing! I can work off my laptop via wi-fi and never have to worry about whether or not it will print. I do use Epson ink as well as premium photo paper. The results are fantastic.

Excellent print/scan feature. High ink use.

By

from Stillwater, OK

I use this printer for home office, and it does not get high usage. The photo image quality is excellent. Text is generally high quality. Scan works as expected with, again, Epson's high quality. It sucks up ink, though. It has 5 ink cartridges: Black, cyan, yellow, magenta, and photo black. The standard black ink cartridge that came in the package was empty after printing 5 pages of text. The standard color and photo black cartridges are fareing better, but still faster than I expected. The ink is expensive, too. Plus it will not allow you to print if any one of the cartridges needs to be replaced. I like the brand and the quality, but I don't recommend this model based on ink usage alone.

Pretty good except for the ink replacements

By

from Olympia, WA

I like my Epson printer well enough but the thirsty ink usage is frustrating, because after printing 2 very good color copies, the printer said replace this one, and then replace that one, and pretty soon I could not print at all even though the black was new, before I replaced the black. It was an expensive time, and that's the part I hear about the printer that makes people unhappy. But it's a good printer nevertheless...thanks.

Questions about this item:

Lindsay W  What is the difference between the Expression Home XP-400 Small-in-One and this printer?
Andrew R  Unfortunately we do not offer the Expression Home XP-400 so a comparison is difficult. Generally speaking though the XP-800 would likely have higher print speeds, better color reproduction, and higher overall output capacity.
Lindsay W  Is this printer compatible with a Mac OSX 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo?
DAILEY L  Yes it is. I have a powerbook with that operating system. It was easy to set up for wifi, and has generally been a good printer. No problems yet, and it has been 7 months of regular use for a home business. The only pet peeve I have is that when one ink cartridge runs out, the printer will refuse to print, even if you are only using one color. However, it prints fast and has withstood the constant fiddling of a toddler. Not bad.
Dave R  Will this printer print directly from CF Memory cards?
NICK E  I just tried that, and yes it print directly from CF, it also recognized pictures on the thumb drive. However it looks like, it only recognizes pictures and not other file formats.
