The built-in 30-page automatic document feeder lets you scan, copy and fax multipage 2-sided documents in 1 easy step. Scan documents and photos up to 8.5 x 11.0" (letter size) and save them to your computer. You won't have to worry about losing important papers or photos. With up to 4800 dpi scan resolution, red-eye removal, photo restoration and exposure correction, you can easily scan, fix and share old photos right from your computer.
The built-in fax modem lets you send and receive faxes from the machine itself or send faxes from the computer. The XP-850 includes a 180-page memory so you can receive faxes even when the printer is out of paper. Additionally, you can save up to 60 numbers in the fax's speed dial.
The copier lets you scan documents up to 8.5x11" in color or grayscale. There's no need to turn on the computer to copy a document, photo, ID card, or passport; just use the printer's touchscreen LCD to copy, change the copy quality (draft/normal) and specify how many copies you need.

Great printer, paper capacity too small
I was looking to buy an all-in-one printer that included CD printing and AirPrint. I was surprised how hard it was to find for any brand. This printer does it all. There is a rear slot for card stock. Which is a nice feature because my Artisan 810 didn't do card stock well (paper would jam). Tray 1 is for 4x6 or 5x7 photo paper only. Tray 2 is for regular paper up to legal-size. My only disappointment is the paper capacity in Tray 2, which is about 50. Significantly less than what I had with ...View full Review

The wireless network setup worked fine. To print on a CD you have to pull out a separate tray from the bottom, load the CD and then insert it into a slot above Tray 1. Scanning works fine within PhotoShop (after I ran the Epson Navigaror and Event Manager). Copying works fine but sometimes it takes the printer several minutes to warm up if I haven't used in awhile.

I should have listened.
I've used Epson printers for my small business for 15 years. My last printer, the Artisan 725, lasted 5 years with high volume usage. I was sad when it died, but I knew it was time to replace it. It exceeded my expectations. I need a six-ink printer so I read reviews for all of the ones Epson sells. The reviews were mixed, but a lot of people were complaining about the XP-850 printing with lines or not recognizing cartridges, etc. Guess what? They were right! It exceeded my expectations. I need a six-ink printer so I read reviews for all of the ones Epson sells. The reviews were mixed, but a lot of people were complaining about the XP-850 printing with lines or not recognizing cartridges, etc. Guess what? They were right! I've had this printer for two weeks and it's already printing with lines. The pics look horrible. I've gone through the maintenance cleaning, etc, so many times (wasting ink). Replacing ink was a pain too because the printer takes forever to recognize it. On top of that, you can't even find the ink in stores! I went to 7 different stores and it was nowhere to be found. You can only buy it online. That doesn't work for me. I can't believe what has happened to Epson. I expected more. I've returned my printer and purchased another brand at half the cost. It prints beautifully. Bye bye Epson. :(

Only had it two days but works as expected and was relatively easy to set up with wireless and Fax etc. Only concern at this time is the small size of the six ink tanks, plus the extremely high price for such small cartridges! Now I understand why there are so many online ads for ink tank systems to replace the cartridges. Time will dictate how much of a concern this turns out to be.
I love the quality of the printing, but I am NOT impressed with the quality of the printer itself. I use this printer to print large 8x10 photographs and am impressed with the quality of the photos, but often times the printer just stops working correctly. I have had to turn in this model for warranty replacement several times now. The print heads get clogged and cleaning them only uses up a LOT of expensive ink and a lot of times just makes the problem worse. The only remedy I have had after going through two complete sets of ink trying to clean the print heads is to get a replacement printer. This is frustrating because that is down time without a printer and the fact that there is only a one year warranty on the printer means the next time this happens (and I am sure it will because it has happened several times now) I will be out of warranty.
While I like its compact design, it is much slower and noisier than the Artisan 837 it replaced. The overall quality is lacking in comparison to its predecessor.
SO far this printer has worked great for me in all areas. I have mostly used it for general printing, CD case printing and printing directly on CD's I am impressed with how quick it prints and the quality is good. It does not seem to use as much ink as I am used to. I have only printed a couple pictures but they printed nicely as well and the quality is good.
While I only started to use my new printer I am excited about it's performance and looking forward to learning all the capabilities it shows. Keep up the good work Epson.......
I really like this printer it is my 5th Epson Photo printer. It does a very nice job printing CD/DVD disks and photographs. The only thing I am disappointed by is the simple fact the neither the drawer or panel drop/retract on their own I have to manually push the drawer back in. If a motor pushes it out, then why can't the motor pull it back. It seems to be unhappy with the almost forced push back in. Other than this I Love it and have recommended it several times already.
Everything is as I had hoped, from copying to wireless printing from smart phones other computers in the house to printing envelopes etc. We greatly enjoy the ease of use. The only drawback so far is it is still such a new product, nobody sells ink cartridges except Epson online so you have to plan ahead to get a supply ready, you cannot run to the store to get more while in the middle of a project.
I ordered this printer because my old printer wouldn't work with windows 8.1. What I got was a pleasent suprise. This printer was easy to set up and program. It prints great and I did 4x6 and 8x10 photos and I got great compliments on the quality of my photos and finishing. I would recomend this printer to everyone.
Have been using if for over 2 months and it is a perfect work horse. Mostly used to print pictures, I have been sending pictures on oversea travels directly from my phone or laptop to the printer for the family to enjoy without any problems. At home is has been a workhorse with no problems what so ever. Buy the high capacity ink and you will not have any ink problems for a while. Highly recommended.
Print head clogs and won't clean. Epson sent me 4, yes 4 replacement printers. All five printers had same problem. Not reliable. Junk. Do not buy!!!
