From the Manufacturer
The Fujifilm XF 35mm (53mm) F/1.4 Lens is specifically designed for the Fujifilm X-Pro1 camera with an APS-C sensor, this Fujifilm 35mm f/1.4 XF R Lens is a "normal" lens equivalent to 53mm in 35mm format. The exceptionally fast, bright f/1.4 maximum aperture makes shooting in very low light possible and provides pleasing bokeh (the out-of-focus portion of a photo) with its 7-blade aperture design-ideal for dramatic portraits. This is a terrific All-in-One lens for everyday use.
To take advantage of the X-Pro1's mirror-less design, the rear element of the lens is as close as possible to the sensor, minimizing the back focus distance appreciably. The lens construction includes a metal barrel, Super EVC coating for improved optical performance and it delivers improved centre-to-edge resolution and brightness free from chromatic aberration. This lens has a maximum magnification of 0.17x and the aperture ring has 1/3-stop click stops for more precise exposures.

Sharp as a tack!
I use this lens on my X-pro 1. This is one of the sharpest lenses I have ever used. It's even super sharp at F 1.4! I use the Fuji X system both personally and professionally. I like the simplicity compactness of the system compared to my Canons. This lens is my favorite in the line up.

Good Picture Quality
The Fujifilm XF 35mm F/1.4 lens produces high quality images with nicely saturated colors and decent contrast. Out of focus areas are smooth. The only negative is that it makes a lot of noise when focusing or even when switching from taking photos to viewing them.

Used for weddings, events, personal use. The 35m could be used for portraits, although the 56mm would be a far better choice. Gotta love the wide aperture and accurate focus. Some claim that the 35mm doesn't focus as fast as other XF lenses, but I haven't noticed. This lens renders beautiful colors, and seems to be sharp edge to edge. The lens cap that goes on the hood will not stay put, so put it in your pocket or consider it lost.
The 35mm f/1.4 is spectacular. The colors and contrast are exceptional. Bokeh is creamy smooth and makes this lens perfect for portraits. This lens is very sharp at f/1.4.Aperture can be adjusted to 1/3 f-stops which is convenient.Af sometimes hunts in lower light conditions. Overall this lens is an instant classic and almost magical in performance.
I've just switched to Fuji -- coming mainly from Canon L zooms, but with a mix of their primes. Picked up an X100s and a X-T1 with the lens. To be honest, the 35mm (53mm) was chosen as much for availability as anything else. I know some people love shooting at 50mm but it has never held much allure for me. This lens may have just changed all that, especially for my walking around travel shots. Not because of the focal length, mind you, but because there is something truly magical about the combination of this lens and body. Sharp? Wide open with crisp clean lines leaping out from the bokeh. Stopped down a little (THE spot for me seems to be right around 3.2) and you've got something that will draw blood. Beyond that the resolving power -- whether it be coming from the lens or the X-Trans sensor is truly astounding. The ability to pick out and show texture -- in a canvas bag I had in frame, in a wall, a plate of food, subject or prop, whatever -- is something I've very rarely seen. Now the lens isn't quite perfect and where it stumbles is in physical feel. Build quality is great, but the focus ring is a little too sensitive. That's actually a software fault, the ring itself has a nice feel and decent resistance (though softer than the X100s), but these are focus-by-wire and the slightest bump when in manual sends the camera into focus assist if enabled. The aperture ring (oh, aperture rings, how I've missed thee -- I started on FD mounts) isn't as positively clicky as I'd like, especially through the intermediate stops. Certainly usable in both cases, but I'll probably be mainly autofocusing on this one.
I enjoyed using this lens for several days until it suffered "sticky aperture" syndrome. Became unusuable and am waiting a warranty replacement. Given my limited use, I will say it is very, very sharp and a great "normal" lens. Focus speed could be a bit faster (even on X-T1 body) but is acceptable. I hope to update this when I get a new copy (currently backordered)
I use this lens on my XE1 for night shooting. It is keenly sharp and does not require a flash. Some folks don't like the square hood but I like it just fine. It stays on and does it's job. The lens is light but very solid.
Great lens for one of my Fuji X camera's....good prices, fast service.
The lens is just so convenient on the camera, it is small and handles nicely. Teh ohotos are great.
If you have a Fuji X-Trans camera body, this lens is a must! I recently bought an X-T1 and purchased this lens along with it...it is a razor-sharp, fantastic lens!!! I bought a few other lenses as well, but find myself using the 35MM the most!
This is a terrific prime. I use it with my Fuji XE2 camera. I have recently updated the software on both lens and camera, and now this lens focuses even faster. Clarity and sharpness are very good, images are clean and bright. In general, I like Fuji's prime lenses a lot. I find them to be well-made, feel good in hand, well-balanced on the camera, and love the bokeh produced when this lens is wide open, taking advantage of its fast f/1.4 aperture. I recommend this lens without hesitation to anyone with this camera system looking for a lens at this focal length.
This is a wonderful piece of glass. With the current lens discounts, it's even that much better. My only "complaint" is with the slightly loose hood, and the tupperware-like hood cover (be careful, or you will lose it). But that's about it. Worthy of five stars.
