The best Mid Range zoom lens ever!
Im a retired pro shooter, this is absolutly the best over all zoom lens of my 51 year photography career.Built like a tank, light but not too light, all alloy construction, quite fast for this type of lens. As good or better than all my best Nikon AFS f2.8 pro zooms, I have four. Better than a Leitz Vario Elmar, and Zeiss Variogon, I just love this masterpiece from Fuji. I also have the 14mm, 18-55mm XF and the incredible XF 60mm Macro. Im an old retired photographer who now has trouble with ...View full Review

I also have the 14mm, 18-55mm XF and the incredible XF 60mm Macro. Im an old retired photographer who now has trouble with the weight of most Pro DSLRs for an extend shoot ( Im ready to croak at the end of a 6 hour shoot with a nikon D7000 and 17-35 and 35-70 AFS 2.8 zoom). The lack of a depth of field scale was a mistake but not a problem overall, everything else about this lens is just about as perfect as it gets. Resolution and color rendition are in my experience unparalleled.

Do I need to say it again, I Love it. It became a new way of seeing space compressed and compositions exploding on print that cannot be seen by the eye. I debated about going to the 10mm-18mm, which I will do next, but went for long never really have a long lens before. Shooting people in a crowd or nature closer up, it was a surprise to see elements play against each other that I did not see before, now I am looking.
Great for horse shows. Very useful range (55-200) and not at all heavy for a zoom mid tele. incorporates VR technology.
Image equal to or better than my Nikkors. Better ergonomics than my Nikkors. I use it with the X T-1.
sharp, lightweight for its size, very well built, smooth focus ring. lens hood is large but lightweight as well and reverses for storage. very happy with purchase especially since it was on sale for $100 off.
Great lens. With the high ISO performance of the XT-1 this lens works OK indoors. Outdoors focuses fast and is very sharp. For the smaller sizes of the X series camera this lens contradicts being larger and heavier similar to a standard DSLR. It still seems well balanced on the XT-1 and is comfortable to use.
I have canon L 2.8 is II and this but i prefer this more, have not compared in pixel, but i feel this is sharper, if not, as least as sharp as canon. only down is bokeh is not good enough, but at this price and weight, its perfect.
Fuji is doing an excellent job producing high quality lenses for their X series and this lens is a good example. The image quality and build are superb, and would be even if the lens cost twice as much. The image stabilization works extremely well and easily adds 3-4 stops, which is really important for a telephoto lens when handheld. It would be nice if the lens were a constant 2.8 aperture, but I would not be willing to pay the size/weight/cost penalty for this.
what's not to like - VG image quality, in-lens stabilization and a decent price makes this lens a good one for my XE-2.
Briefly --- Rather heavy lens Somewhat slow to focus Good close focusing ability BE patient and great IQ will follow.....
This lens is fast & produces excellent image quality. The build is what one has come to expect from Fuji; top notch. The f3.5 at the lower zoom range is pretty good in low light and even at the full zoom length is not all that bad at f4.8.
