Great all around value

Second Fujifilm camera and after a couple weeks already satisfied and pleased with this purchase.

Camera Features

I bought this camera because of its powerful 30X zoom lens. Little did I know that it has much less power than a 20X rifle scope. I can't even get a good closeup of a bird 40 feet away. Pics are not clear on full zoom. Doubt if I will ever use more than 1/10 of the available features. I'm too old to learn all this stuff. It does take an assortment of good pics though.

Questions about this item:

Barb F  is this compatible with Mac 10.5 and higher?
EMMA V  It's a pretty good camera. It is very good to do a greater depth of field but not good for a shallow depth of field. You won't have trouble making a picture look neat in the far back. So that's good. It's very simple to understand in general. I love it.
Barb F  Thank you but my question was whether or not it is compatible with iMac 10.5 and higher.
tom s  I just got a s4000, and the s4500 looks to be the same. Do you know of any differences, or advantages of the higher number?
Roger H  Start at the Fujifilm website for comparative camera specs You'll probably find out more than you want to know. Good luck !
Brittney M  How does this camera compar to a DSLR camera?
ROGER B  Brittney, I have not used a DSLR camera, but I have used several film SLRs in the past. I can only tell you that I am very pleased with the results I get from this camera. This is my third digital point-and-shoot camera. I do recommend a tripod or a monopod (which I use) when reaching out the full 30 x range to prevent jittery shots. With the DSLR camera you must buy several different lenses to cover the same range as the single lens on this camera. Unless you are a professional photographer, you will probably be very pleased with the pictures. Since I don't have the use of my left hand, I have set the camera on the "SRAUTO" setting. At first when shooting birds in trees in my yard, I had some out- of- focus shots due to the camera focusing on a leaf or tree branch. I have learned to focus the camera at an object the same distance as the bird and hold the shutter half way down until I have reaimed at the bird. This works very well. Battery life is great; some 120-150 shots per set of AA alkaline batteries while using the eyepiece viewfinder. This depends on how often I turn the camera on and off and how often I use the zoom feature motor. For the money, I believe you will be pleasantly surprised at the results from this camera. Brittney, whatever camera you buy, use it frequently. Pictures are great memory joggers. Roger B.
