Multiple freezes on multiple machines
Bought the Envy directly from HP -- lots of great features and had the power I was looking for. The first machine froze up on its first reboot and never recovered, even after a complete reinstall of the OS to factory original. Simply never booted. Even HP tech support had nothing to offer other than an immediate exchange -- but to their credit I didn't get any runaround from them. So that's what I did. Second machine seemed to work fine for about a week, then started locking up. Googled that issue, and seems that I have lots of company there. Ouch, wish I'd known that a couple weeks sooner! So off we go into the wonderful world of updating drivers and hoping that I can find the right one before the machine becomes so unstable that I end up sending it back. A web search for terms like "hp envy windows update hangs" will show the threads that I found. Many folks with this issue, several with various suggested solutions, and each solution has some people who found that it worked, and others who found it didn't. Wish me luck...

Fast machine - great battery life
I love my new HP Envy 17. It is very fast, and has proven to be quite reliable to this point. The screen is amazing. The battery life is very good. I use my computer for finances, office work, internet, and movies, and have not been disappointed yet.

Great Product
My son has a Mac and strongly suggested I go this route. Servers and clients in my business run on Windows OS so I reached to HP again. Never disappointed! The "Beats" aspect to the machine is incredible as music is key when I'm working. Thumbs up on the product. Thumbs up on the service. Thumbs up on HP's follow through.

Easiest purchase to date!
Have been buying laptops for over 20 years and this was by far the easiest experience. Would highly recommend this model as the sound, screen and components are fast, quiet and appear to be of excellent quality. It is also the fastest in booting up of any type of computer in my experience. Appreciate the sleek clean look as it is without stickers and distracting marketing pieces attached.
Glad to have an HP product!
