I bought the customizable HP Envy 17 3D. I found a coupon which led to around 50% off the total price. What a steal for such a great machine. It runs smooth, and fast. It can run all of the top videogames on the market, so although it's not the best gaming machine out there, it can still compete with the best. It has the ability to reach great download speeds because of the i7 processor, the 7200 rpm SSD, and the 8GB of DDR3 RAM. I was able to reach download speeds near to 2MB per second on a pretty poor internet connection. It can run quite a few programs at once with no lag whatsoever. Very nice for a computer programmer like me that needs many things open at once. Also included is a 3D bluray player, beats audio, photoshop, windows 7, and windows office. With all of those in tow I would have imagined a much higher price as each of them alone are between $100-300. The backlit keyboard is a nice touch, and the case is very similar to the macbook case. The keyboard itself is better than any I've had before. One downside is the glossy finish on the top which is easily smudged, but that kind of thing doesn't bother me. The battery life seems pretty good to me so far although I haven't thoroughly tested it. I'm sure if you run it in power saving mode with the keyboard backlight off, the screen dimmed, and only one program running you would be able to reach a battery life of 5 hours. That is the max advertised, but I usually just have mine plugged in anyway. It's not very portable, but I don't really move it anywhere anyways. It's more of a desktop replacement, but comes in weighing 7lbs which is very light for all of the things that are included in it. Overall, this laptop was a very good buy and I would definitely recommend it to those looking for an all around media center laptop.

This laptop costs about the same as a Macbook pro and has twice the features. The 3D works great but content is hard to find. The only way that this laptop could have been a better deal is if it would have come with CyberLink 12 instead of 10 because then I could watch Youtube in 3D. Other than that this thing is very impressive. O and just because I don't think it's ever really mentioned the battery life on this thing (with power saver) is about 4.5 hours.

I bought this laptop because i had to replace my "old faithful" (almost made it through 3 deployments overseas). I bought the quick-ship option because it had most everything I wanted already and I needed one soon. High-end processor, smooth graphics card x 2, plenty of hard disk space (750 GB HDD AND a 80gb SSD for the OS and the programs I use most), and an awesome display. Icing on the cake was the Beats audio, side mounted volume dial, usb 3.0 x 3, 3D screen (I doubt I'll ever use it much but no one else here has it), and overall good looks. Only downside is the weight. Feels like I'm holding a solid brick of lead. But thats the price you pay for the best display in the biz and double the hardware. Highly recommend for a media center or work laptop.

I've done extensive research on laptops and wanted the best.money could buy. This is it. I've had it for two months and love it. I don't have time to write a lot, but this thing is smooth and trouble free. Just. Love. It!!
