This laptop is light, easy to use, perfect for those on the go. Being Familiar with 15" screens, this laptop worked for me, the screen is really nice to use and clear. Battery life is great `7 hours with me., plus it does not take long to charge it anyway. You can easily scroll, zoom in and out using the pad, this is a great feature !! What i did not like is that there is ALOT of hp software taking up all the space and it has to be removed, plus the laptop material gets smudged with fingerprints really easily..which is annoying. Other than that i would recommend it to anyone

this was purchased for my 13 year-old for homework and gaming. works great and the Beats audio is fantastic. But the wi-fi will drop on him occasionally. once because he accidentally turned off the wireless radio (easy to do since it is one of the function keys) and once it lost the WEP key.

I previously had an Asus 10 inch netbook - it was a convenient size but very slow, did not operate very well and the touchpad was problematic. In contrast this 11.6 inch laptop provides what is for me the perfect size - a larger screen and keyboard size than the netbook but still very portable - e.g. usable on a plane in coach when the person in front has tilted their seat back! (13 inch models can be problematic in this regard.) The screen has good definition and is a vast improvement over my last computer. The core I3 is fast for my applications (typically word, powerpoint, excel, internet - I am not a gamer), and the other specifications are impressive - e.g. the 500 GB hard drive. The keyboard is nicely designed and the surface where the hands rest feels comfortable. The keys have a nice texture and solid feel as you type; the touch pad is excellent. This computer has a very good battery life, more than 6 hours although I have not timed it exactly. Overall I really like the appearance, feel and performance of this computer - I can't think of any negatives, it is an excellent computer in this price range!

I bought this netbook after owning an Acer 1410 for two years, and I'm incredibly happy with the HP. The keyboard is a nice size and the keys have a satisfying feedback when pressed. The quality of the beats audio is amazing; it's easy to control and manage your preferred settings. Additionally, the i3 processor is really quick and able to handle multiple ordinary computing tasks at once: word processing, several tabs open in Chrome, video streaming, all simultaneously. The touchpad has great control and allows you to do things like scroll or expand text using two fingers. There are a few minor negatives: the touchpad is knobby instead of smooth which is a little weird and takes some getting used to. Also, although the hard drive is mechanical and has a lot more space than netbooks with SSD drives, it takes longer to do things like boot windows. The computer comes loaded with a ton of bloatware that is a huge pain to remove. Finally, don't expect to be doing any modern gaming on this thing: its graphics performance is much better than past netbooks due to the new intel technology, but it still won't run anything like The Witcher. Overall, the cons are minor compared to the great overall features and performance. I'm incredibly pleased with my purchase.

I have only had this a few days, but so far I just love it..Easy to use and set up. Love the keyboard . Small and compact but big enough for easy use. Does not warm up too much. Quick and Efficient .... Battery lasts about six hours, when in use. Downloads quickly. Would recommend to anyone wanting an efficient Little Laptop...love it...

I chose this laptop because of it's size and portability. It is small and light enough to carry in a small tote bag. Not heavy or cumbersome to carry around when traveling. Setup was extremely easy. I have always purchased HP laptops and computers because of the quality of their product.

Thought the i3 would be a step up from my current unit but lt is saddled with a substandard GPU that cannot handle minor gaming graphics. Operates fine for standard tasks, but real disappointment given the cost. My GPU driver is up-to-date, it just happens to be the only GPU that has the problem with this game.

Had a Mac, took it back. Nice product but too much for the average user. Love the dm1-4170us. Not too much of a wait to boot, but once it is up, it flies. Got a few programs loaded. Nice small computer for the money. Very happy with my purchase. I would recommend to anyone.

Can't remember being so excited about a laptop. Was looking to replace my old netbook with a tablet, then came upon this little gem. It took HP awhile to get this size just right, I'm so glad they did, I feel like Goldilocks.

I am thoroughly pleased with this laptop. i was looking for something that was small and portable, but also has a good performance and a keyboard that fits my big ogre fingers. I don't mean to sound like Goldilocks here, but many laptops are either enormous or have microscopic keyboards. My new little HP is just the perfect size. I can slip it in my bag and travel with it quickly, but then turn around and stream HD movies onto my TV through the HDMI without any issues, I am a happy shopper.

I've had this lap top for about a week and I'm totally satisfied with it. The design is sleek and compact which is very handy for users who travel. I'm also impressed by the processing power of the laptop, it boots fast, plays Netflix with no problem, and streams YouTube like a desktop!!! The keyboard is extremely comfortable and can be adjusted to with no problem. I was typing school papers on it in no time. Pros: compact, great processing power, inexpensive Cons: kind of flimsy design, no backlit keyboard I would recommend this laptop to anyone who's looking for a compact machine that packs a punch.
