This has got to be the best printer! Prints beautiful pictures of all sizes! Prints fast and Ink cost isn't bad! No need for a computer! You can print pictures and use red eye without the use of a computer! I use a laptop and MSNTV 2 and works great with both! Everyone needs a printer like this!

I have had this printer for approx 1 year and I am not too thrilled with it when printing envelopes. Also it does not print landscape mode 2 pages on one page all the time. I can't figure it out! My last photosmart printer was excellent and I used it until it died. I do alot of printing. I would recommend HP products but this one I think is a loser!

First off, I have to tell you that I am a Photographer and always print my own pictures. I've tried a few other brands, but HP tops them all and I personally prefer the Photosmart printers. I have to agree with the other reviews......replacing an 02 cartridge when low is much more cost effective than replacing a tri-color cartridge. That's the main reason I purchased this Photosmart model. I was replacing an older model (yes, it wore out...but I print hundreds of photos daily and eventually, a printer must give out.) Fortunately, HP is excellent when it comes to warranty returns. If the model is not available......you will still get reimbursed. This replaced my Photosmart 8200 series, which was not as fast, but I was still attached to that model. I did an immediate comparison with the 2 printers. When set on the highest resolution (4800x1200 dpi,) on HP Premium Plus paper, they matched. However, when printing 4x6 prints, I found that the older series printed much smoother and even though this model printed in seconds, there were noticeable lines across the entire picture. From a distance, the clarity was so beautiful, but up close, I was a little disappointed. On the positive, the D7160 model does seem sturdier and so far, no problems with paper jamming, etc.........which can sometimes cause problems, especially when you switch from canvas to photo paper, to iron-transfers, etc... I would trust this model, recommend it highly, as well as HP and Vivera inks.

As a photo printer, the quality and ease of use would be hard to equal for the price. Quite user friendly, photos come out clear and bright, edge to edge every time. I love being able to insert my camera chip, and being able to edit picture immediately. This printer can be used for document printing as well. Here also, the quality is excellent and the speed of print phenomenal in a machine in this price range. The only drawback that I see is, that with 6 ink cartridges the carriage is always adjusting, cleaning or aligning itself. If you just want a copy in a hurry, you won't get it until the machine is through with its abolutions. Thank goodness I kept my old reliable, no nonsense Deskjet 952!

This is the 5th or 6th printer I've owned and is the best of the lot. It will print immediately, even after sitting for an extended period.Colors are always spot on. Ink use is as low as I've ever seen. Resolution and color accuracy are also as good as I've seen, even on much more expensive models. It also has a number of features I very much appreciate such as a paper tray that pulls out to make insertion much easier. I also like having one ink cartridge per color so I only need to replace the color I'm out of. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased.

What the others have said, easy to set up, use and great photo printing. But, my new computer came with Windows Vista. I was ready to plug-and-play – not. I was directed to the download center for my choice of the full 181Meg or basic 38Meg driver and software package. I got the small package. That is OK. Vista photo support is VERY GOOD.

Wow..Who said you get what you pay for!! Not with the Photosmart D7160. Inexpensive photo printer for an impressive photo quality and features. This printer has 6 different colored inks that help the quality of photos. Built solid not lightweight. Little large but an eyecatcher. Easy to install hardware and software. I also bought the HP value pack with all 6-ink cartridges and 150 4x6 glossy photo paper. The package says enough supplies for printing 150 4x6 prints…I have printed 125 photos with the ink already in printer with 70% ink left. I am seeing that I will get more photos out of the ink than they are saying. I tried some off brand glossy paper and found it takes longer for the ink to dry so I recommend staying with HP paper. All the software is easy to figure out and works well except the HP Essential freezes up when ever I try to use it. That doesn’t matter to me, I use other photo software for my older photos. I bought a new camera a few months back and needed something to print out my photos without costing me allot of time and money. I went to the store to buy another photo printer that had great reviews online. Put it in my cart. After seeing the HP on an end cap I checked it out and loved all of the features with the sales person helping me I brought the HP home and love it. I am very happy with my choice and I see myself sticking with HP for more products.

This is my first photo printer, it was so easy to install, setup, and print that I thought I must be doing something wrong. I purchased this on the recommendation of the salesman, and because of the separate color cartridges. The ability to print from the camera, the memory card, or the pc is a great feature. The HP software is also easy to use, you can crop, remove red-eye, print in sephia, or black white all with the few mouse clicks. This is an outstanding printer for the price! The quality of the photos are unbelieveable. My wife was skeptic until I printed off the Christmas pictures and I took them with my new camera.
