Fast regular shipping which delivered on the day they said they would. So far the laptop has worked perfectly out of the box. Made system backup/restore disks. Deleted unwanted programs. Added Windows 7 updates. Added new anti-virus/internet protection software. Browsed. No urps. I haven't bought a receiver for the WiDi capability to beam wirelessly to my HD TV yet. If I can, I'll adjust my review after I test that. I like the small changes in the keyboard: 1. The Function keys are toggled to default to their actions, rather than their F1, F2, etc number. Therefore I can simply hit the F2 or F3 keys to brighten or dim the screen display, rather than having to hit Fn+F2 or Fn+F3. More practical in real use. 2. Like the Volume Mute On/Off key(with light) on the keyboard rather than having to right-click the volume icon on the Taskbar. My previous HP Pavilion had a QuickPlay touchpad on the top of the keyboard, with a Volume control, but too often when I wanted to touch JUST the Volume control, I'd activate the full Quickplay screen. Aggrevating. 3. Like the Wireless On/Off key (with light) on top of the keyboard. My previous HP Pavilion had it as a slider bar on the front of the laptop casing, which could get moved in handling the laptop and invisibly turn off wireless capability. 4. No problem in finger orientation with having a numeric keyboard next to the QWERTY keyboard. Keys are solid overall. 5. Touchpad works nicely with all gestures. Doesn't get triggered inadvertantly by resting my palms below the spacebar when I type. Also works when I have a trackball mouse inserted in a USB port at the same time. Minor Cons: 1. I miss not having the Hard drive activity light on top of the keyboard. It's now invisible on the right side of the unit so I can't get a visual alert when downloads are complete and I don't get a screen message or the disk activity seems unusual for the circumstances. 2. The dark umber color of the casing. Shows every dust mote/crumb. I prefer silver, but this is a very small criticism compared to everything else the laptop provides. 3. The Blu-ray drive doesn't immediately open with a normal press of its Eject button. (Finger pads normally just push the button flush with the casing.) It takes a fingerpad press that includes part of your fingernail, to get the button below flush. When you get that technique down, then no problem. I'll never use the fingerprint reader, but look at all of the functionality you get in one laptop. A great buy upfront and for the future. HP, I hope you maintain your PC division. I've been a loyal fan so far.

After diliberate research and positive reviews I received my new dv6 only to experience problems with the touch pad and a problem with the release button on the BlueRay player tray..............................................So far HP has responded with promptness and responsibility, I am assured that replacement unit will be on the way..................we shall see!! Brief time that I had to explore dv6, I was impressed with the compactness and weight. starstream

First, I love this computer. Blu-Ray and Wi-Di are a great combination. I really like the ability to display video and pictures wirelessly to the TV. Widescreen makes this computer seem so much larger than the old “square” 15.6 inch screens. Key board with keypad design is nice. I have not noticed any issues caused by the offset touch pad (in fact, I didn't even notice it until I read another review). Does show some fingerprints (whatever), but I like the look overall. I would buy this again and I recommend this machine to everyone!

This is a nice laptop. I applied several discounts and got it for an unbelievable price. It is worth every dollar I spent. The sound with beats audio is very impressive! Blue-ray player is very good too! It is fast, has huge storage caapcity. I even returned my standalone blue-ray player to the store! I love the HDMI port.

I've his this laptop for a little less than a month and so far I'm really enjoying it. The blu-ray player works really well and the hdmi port works perfect for what I need. Most of the features on this laptop are really nice, however there are a couple minor drawbacks. For example the finish on the laptop makes it collect finger prints rather easily, so I am constantly cleaning it. Also the graphics card isn't the best, it's good, much better than the laptop I had previous to this, but it cannot quite handle some of the games I like to play. Overall this laptop has been really great so far and I would definitely recommend it to someone else.

Computers are one of those things that become obsolete almost as soon as they are purchased, but I feel this one will serve me well for years to come. I wish it had featured the backlit keyboard, but that has little significance compared to the speed and ease of operation. I even set this up myself and I am not tech savvy at all. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase.

After my dv4 laptop crashing, I chose this as a replacement. The upgraded sound, graphics, biometric feature and super fast processor and speed did not disappoint! Not a lot to learn again - except the biometric feature and the bluray player not set up for a mouse. The touchpad on/off feature is a touch annoying but totally liveable. AWESOME! I am very pleased with this product!

So far the laptop has performed well, but the design could be improved. The keyboard could have been designed more ergonomically, e.g., the keys - larger, better design, larger & bolder print (lettering on F keys is so small I can't read them unless I crouch over the keyboard). Also, for someone like me who actually uses a laptop on her lap (on a board), having a separate number pad on the side of the letter keys makes it very difficult to type comfortably. To be centered over the letter keys, the computer must be moved to the side, thereby unbalancing it. It has to be propped up on the side while I type. HP, please keep in mind that computer users are of all ages and design your keyboards so that everyone can use them comfortably. Lastly, the color scheme: black and brown. Too dark, and I don't like brown. The stainless steel option did not appear to be available when I ordered this model.

I'm very happy with the features included for the price. This is as decribed, as expected. The only concern I have is with the keyboard. The top row (f2, f3, etc.) of keyes seem "flex" quite a bit. The others areas of the keyboard seem solidly in place. When I press on the top row the keyboard seems to not be attached solidly at the top and depresses down along with the key I'm pressing.
