I've been using this laptop almost daily since it's arrival last week, and I must say it's a pleasure to both the eye and fingers too. The brushed aluminum finish and elegant sleek design give it an air of sophistication . It's also one of the fastest and smoothest performers I have encountered in it's price range. Boot time is fast. The gpu is capable of smoothly rendering most graphics intensive games and applications on medium and lower settings without any stutter or freezes. Windows 8 takes a few days to get used to, but it is also fast and user friendly too. The Intel i5 3210m cpu delivers as promised and makes multi tasking effortless. The beats audio is also a nice touch. All in all, this laptop is a solid performer and lives up to it's position in the Envy family of laptops.

Before I bought this laptop, I thought I was going to get a very fast computer. But in reality, every step takes a little while to complete. Windows 8 has its good points but at the same time it is a little confusing. I like the new features, and the computer itself seems to have good quality, it is the software that seems to be slow in all the processing. I have to keep learning about it to get better use of this new laptop.

I just purchased this pc and received it within 2 days using 5-7 day shipping "Amazing I know", But yes so far I love it, Its amazingly fast, has no stutter, and is extremely simple to use, this is my first windows 8 pc and I can honestly say I don't think ill be going back to 7 ever again, the laptop feels premium, and I haven't had any instance where the cooling system did anything but pump out cool air so it is very temperature controlled, the battery lasts about 3 hours if you use all the settings at max while watching a movie but that is still pretty freaking good for a laptop after all my old G42-303dx only lasted about 40 minutes while playing a movie or game, all In all this is a perfect laptop given the price, the only thing I dislike is there is no backlit keyboard, but it isn't necessary once you memorize the keys location anyway. BUY ONE!

I got my HP Envy for Christmas; my Gateway is five years old, has trouble charging, and has slowed so I thought it would be a great opportunity to upgrade. When I started up the computer, it froze twice on the set up screen, but I persevered thinking it was a fluke. I loved the tiles and the user interface, but sadly whenever I used the tile screen the computer would hard freeze (no mouse movement) and I would have to restart it. It got to the point where the computer was unusable (12 freezes in the fist two days) so I called, and after a long process trying to fix it (including re-downloading the operating system, and booting the computer, etc.), ultimately having to send it back. I waited over a week for them to send me a new Envy, I did appreciate that they sent me a brand new one, but the problem is the brand new one was DOA (dead on arrival). I tried starting it and all it showed was black, we tried some of their suggestions (like remove the battery, drain the power, etc.), and still just black. I am so done with this computer and this company, even if they sent me another new one I don't think I would even want it. This product is clearly poor quality, they spent all their time on the design but for got to make the actual computer function as a computer, and I could not own one without the looming thought "will it break today?" I'm back on my five year old Gateway, and despite the flaws it has acquired over the years, it still functions better than this Envy ten minutes out of the box. I will be returning it shortly, and taking my business elsewhere. Very disappointing, at least their reps are nice.

This product has all the features and more that I was looking for. As a senior citizen I don't have all the same needs as younger customers. I just need help getting it set up. It's different that the last PC I set up years ago. Would like it if HP would have an option for us technically challenged folks to have it already set up when it arrives. One other thing I'm very pleased with is the Ready-to-ship feature, I couldn't believe my eyes when it arrived two days after purchase. That's AWSOME.

There are only 2 things we really don't like: There is no indicator light on the NumLock key ... It makes it a bit hard when entering passwords to know what you are really typing. The touchpad does not have any lighting on it (I guess we are spoiled by that feature on our dv7). Other than that, it seems to be a solid laptop for the price. Boots up fast, and we're adjusting to Windows 8.
