Ikelite Underwater TTL Camera Housing for Panasonic Lumix LX-5 Digital Camera

Dive into underwater photography with our most compact true TTL camera system. The Compact Digital housing is high quality, extremely durable, and backed by Ikelite's long-standing reputation for excellence.

Proprietary conversion circuitry allows two-way communication between the camera and Ikelite Substrobes providing true Panasonic TTL exposure. In addition to providing the most accurate automatic exposure, this ensures a faster recycling time and longer camera battery life as compared to fiber optic TTL systems. Take advantage of this powerful feature by attaching any current model Ikelite DS Substrobe.

All camera controls except the Flash Open Switch are fully functional through the housing and depth rated to 200ft (60m).

Two 12-24 threaded mounts on the bottom of the housing allow for the secure attachment of optional trays and lighting accessories.

Size and Weight.
· 7" wide x 5" high X 5.4" deep including controls and lens port.

· Slightly negative buoyancy in fresh water.

Camera's Built-in Flash.
An included flash diffuser improves lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used. A built-in flash is effective between 1-3 feet (0.3-0.9m) from the subject in clear conditions. For best results an external underwater strobe is recommended.

External Color Filters.
Color filters replace some of the reds, oranges and more natural tones that would otherwise be lost underwater. Effective in relatively shallow, sunny conditions. Available as #6441.41 for tropical blue water and #6441.81 for use in green water settings. For optimum results use in combination with manual white balance (see camera user guide for information on setting custom white balance).

External Underwater Strobes (Hard-Wired TTL).
Ikelite DS series Substrobes are industry favorites for their warm, even coverage and lightning fast recycle time. Unlike fiber-optic "TTL" systems, our conversion circuitry eliminates the need for the camera's built-in flash to fire. This dramatically improves recycle time and camera battery life allowing you to take more photos more quickly. We recommend convenient and affordable strobe with sync cord packages that provide everything you need to take advantage of true TTL exposure. A #9523.31 single or #9523.32 dual tray and handle is required for the attachment of an external strobe

External Underwater Strobes (Optical TTL).
The AF35 AutoFlash kit can be attached directly to the LX-5 housing and provides automatic "TTL" exposure by optical signal from thecamera's built-in flash. The AF35 is slightly less powerful than our DS Substrobes and is not able to take advantage of the housing's built-in circuitry.

Pro-V8 LED Video Lite.
For additional lighting when using the camera's movie mode and to aid in focus. For use with or without a color filter.

External Accessory Lenses.
An external wide angle conversion lens increases angle of coverage so you can get much closer to your subject while still fitting everything in the frame. By reducing the amount of water between the subject and your camera lens, the resulting image will be more crisp and colorful. Attach 67mm threaded #6420 Ikelite W-20, Inon Type II and Epoque wide angle or macro lenses directly to the front of the housing port. Bayonet mount lenses are not compatible with this housing.

Vignetting will be present with a wide angle lens attached. The LX-5 must be zoomed several stops to eliminate vignetting. Addition of an Ikelite W-20 or comparable wide angle lens will gain approximately 15-20% angle of view after zooming.

Travel Case.
Optional #3920 Carrying Case with Foam accommodates the the housing with a single AF35 or DS51 strobe, handle with tray and accessories.
