Ikelite Underwater Camera Housing for Canon Powershot Elph 110 HS, IXUS 125 HS Digital Cameras

It took a while to decide but I finally settled on this housing with the matching Canon ELPH 110 HS 16MP/HD camera. A week ago, I used it on 4 dives below 100ft (123 ft max) and everything worked well and as expected. However, the ZOOM control is quite challenging (sticky) to operate. I did not wear gloves during these dives and all the other controls were accessable, simple and easy to operate bare handed. It definately is heavier, bigger and bulkier than I'd expected (ahhh the joys of ordering online ;-) ) I personally think it's somewhat "over-engineered" for recreational diving. This is not a problem underwater but does take more effort, care and attention during entries and exits. Overall, IMHO, a good quality, somewhat pricey, and easy to use housing that hopefully will last a long time.

I took this on several scuba dives in the Philippines and Bali. It keeps water out and closes easily. I went down to 40 meters. As scuba photographers know, you need to manually set the white balance as you go down deeper so everything in your picture doesn't look too green. The function button and its 4 adjacent buttons were not functional. No matter how hard I pushed them, 90% of the time I couldn't (and still can't) access the manual functions while the camera was in the casing, and thus could not adjust the white balance at various depths. I decided to just rely on the fish mode preset Auto mode, which is not ideal. If you look at those buttons surrounding the function button, they hardly even match up with the corresponding button circle on the canon camera. I did get several nice photos, and the HD video was fun, but those are due to the camera being good. The casing closes easily enough and stays locked. It's sturdy and I trust it to the full 60 meter depth rating, although I don't plan to go that deep. I would recommend the (40meter?) casing made by Canon rather than the Ikelite (60 meter) version because I think the buttons on the Canon casing would accurately match up to the camera better.
