About Ilford

In line with the market transition from the analogue darkroom to the digital arena, ILFORD set itself the benchmark of producing the equivalent of a classic air-dried, gloss, black and white fibre based silver image print using current inkjet digital technology. ILFORD has created GALERIE GOLD Fibre Silk, a 310gsm inkjet media featuring a traditional barium sulphate (baryta) base.

The baryta enhances the media surface which gives the creamy whites and velvety blacks that form part of the unique look and feel of a true fibre print; the standard amongst art photographers worldwide.

The media also produces real high definition images with an extended tonal range, making it a must for exhibition quality images ranging from vivid colour to dramatic black and whites.

The assembly is completed by a backing layer which ensures that the final printed image has minimal curl. GALERIE GOLD has been specifically designed with no unnecessary additives in the media to guarantee the image lasts and lasts just like a traditional photo print.

The optimum combination of the base and the coating, together with the media's excellent archival properties makes ILFORD GALERIE GOLD the perfect complement to the ILFORD GALERIE Smooth and Classic ranges.

Just as traditional silver halide photographs demonstrate, extreme emotions can be captured in an image through warm or cold tones. These same results can be produced digitally, and ILFORD has created specific recommendations on using filter factors to create 'digital toning'.

Ranging from standard black and white, warm tone, cool tone and sepia to gold, selenium and blue, the only limitis the photographer's imagination. These filter factors together with custom ICCprofiles are available for free on the website: www.ilford.com

Great Fine Art Paper for a fair price

By

from Bay Area  -  Semi Professional

I use the Ilford Gold Fibre Silk paper for a awhile now and I am always more than happy with the brilliance and depth of the results when printing on this surface. It is a durable, baryta based fine art paper that is available for very economical price. It delivers stunning depth and details especially in b&w prints. I worked with several other papers and still do but this is my absolute favorite when it comes to b&w reproduction.

A great bartya paper

By

I have settled on this paper as one of the two papers I use for printing my photographs. It has the look of my real darkroom prints, with excellent colors, thickness, and surface.

very very nice

This is a very nice paper. I'll compare it to Museo Silver Rag (MSR) because I have some experience with it. I use a z3100. It has less E surface texture than MSR and is less warm. I found the MSR texture to be distracting. I don't think they use brighteners (good for longevity) but it seems brighter than silver rag. I use it for both color and black and white and have found it quite beautiful. Capable of rich tones and nuance. 2 bonuses: it's less expensive than MSR and they include a nice pair of gloves in the package. If you need a baryta type paper this is a very good value.
