Just what I wanted.

Simple, professional. Just two slots for SD and CF which is all I need. Closes up for transport. I should get another one.

May or Maynot Work

This was my first USB 3.0 reader, and it is fast. But, it quickly startsd giving me trouble. On my desktop it would freeze the computer if I left it plugged in while working in LR3 or PS5. On my laptop it would start and stop ever few seconds. Lexar took it back and replaced it. But the replacement was a Refurb and older judging by the serial and version #s. Strangely, it worked fine in USB 2.0 ports.

I Like this

By

I use this with my UDMA card and it works well and very fast. I like the way that all I had to do was hook it up and it went. It is made to protect the itself with a popup/down catch. this is very nice and small for travel, but not the smallest I have seen. It is about 2.5"x2.5"x0.5" All around great product or the price.

Geat Card Reader, you got to love USB 3

By

from Burlington, NC

The reason you buy a USB 3 reader is you want faster performance and this unit gives it. I have a Cannon 40D and I shoot in raw format. I preformed a test to give you some idea on what it did on my system copying raw files. The data below was using a 300x 8GB Transcend CF card. I basically just copied the files from my hard drive to the card reader and then copied the files back to my hard drive. If you have one of the faster CF cards then you will see even better performance. The data I used are 116 raw files with a average size of 11.5 MB. The total amount of data moved was 1.29 GB. The time to write to the card was 43 seconds which is a average speed of 30 MB/s. The time to read from the card was 7 seconds which is a average speed of 184.3 MB/s. I have owned this card reader for 8 months now and have had no problems with it. I highly recommend it.

I needed a reliable card reader that could handle the transfer of images quickly. I use Lexar CF and SD cards. I like that it closes up when not in use.

Impressive speed and elegant design

By

As promised the USB 3.0 delivers fast transfer rate, I have stopped taking jpegs since the transfer speed of the Raw images to my PC is so fast. The design is elegant and compact, much better than my old SanDisk card reader.

Works well

I purchased a different product and the pins bent after a couple of uses. THis one fits the card much better so it doesnt need to be forced in and out. It was a good solution for me when I purchased an L-bracket to allow vertical mounting of my camera on a tripod, which blocked the port for the USB cable. Now I can download pics without loosening the bracket.

Lexar ROCKS!

By

I finally (finally!) got around to upgrading my card reader. I just bought a new Fuji X10 and needed a reader to transfer SD cards. I can not believe just how fast USB 3.0 is transferring my images! I've been a professional Lexar user since going digital in 2003.

Wow. This is so worthwhile.

I have been using a Fire wire reader and it was disappointing how long it took to download 24 megapixel files. I installed a USB 3.0 PCIe card in my PC. Bought this Lexar Card Reader. The download of files is so so fast, I can hardly believe it. So worth it.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ROBERT N  This card reader is awesome!
kris c  Hi, Can I use this card reader with my brand new mac book pro 15 inch as I only have USB and Fw800 connections?
kris c  Thank You all for the helpful comments! I did purchase it and compare to my 4 year old Mac Book Pro and Lexar FireWire combo even without the USB3 connection the speed is an amazing 4 minutes vs 2 hours previously. Wow!
Shopper  I have purchased another brand in the past and after a couple of uses the pins bent and that was the end of it. The fit was much tighter than the fit of the card in the camera. Any feedback on whether you've had this problem?
PETER P  Funny you should mention bent pins. I had the USB 2.0 version of this card reader for years and loved it. A couple of months ago two of the pins got bent and it went in the trash. This new USB 3.0 version is physically identical but so much faster. No trouble yet and the insertion of the card is smooth without that excess tightness you're talking about. I suspect the bent pin problem might be more an issue with the CF card itself.
